Abstract: This work paper aims to present a study on analysis of the pathos scene in the tragedy
Oedipus Tirano, through the concepts of enárgeia and ekphrasis, as descriptive techniques to
promote the visualization of the report of the scene of suffering. As theoretical support for this
work, Aristotle's work Poetics was used to define the tragic plot and the catastrophe, as well as
some classical authors who dedicated themselves to finding definitions for the terms ekphrasis and
enárgeia, such as the philosophers Cicero and Quintilian. The objective of the analysis is to
investigate the messenger's reports in the aforementioned tragedy as an image production technique,
identifying the presence of these ornaments and by what means the speaker completes the vivid
representation of his characters and objects. The analysis of the scene (vs. 1236-1285) was made
based on our translation of the original Greek text.

Abstract: The present work consists in the translation of the work of the Greek philosopher Epicurus of Samos (341 BC - 270 BC), letter to Meneceus, preserved in the work of Diogenes Laertius “Life and Doctrine of Eminent Philosophers” (Βίοι καὶ γνῶμαι τῶν ἐν φιλοσοφιαὶ), chapter X, accompanied by an introduction in which the author; life and work were discussed, and a development in chapters, in which we tried to present some characteristics concerning the letter genre, so that certain particularities presente in this corpus could help us in the analyses, especially in the syntax. After defining the genre, we tried to discuss some main concepts about Epicurean philosophy, in order to support us in the philosophical passages of the translated text. Ultimately, the translation intention was to bring the two languages closer together, as much as possible, without causing semantic damage to the translated language.

Abstract: This work aims to verify if there is a relationship between the epithets used in the text and the parts. In order to carry out this study, we sought a theoretical framework in Maria Helena da Rocha Pereira – Formulas and Epithets in Homeric Language; in Mario Vegetti with the book Men and the Gods; between others. We also use the Dictionnaire Grec-français, Bailly; and the Diccionario manual griego, Vox To proceed with the analysis, a historical contextualization of the corpus was made, as well as a translation that served for the analysis. The work was divided into three chapters that dealt respectively with the historical context, the Homeric hymns and the hymn to Aphrodite. Finally, we verify that in fact there is a significant relationship between the epithets and the theme, the subjects covered in every hymn. This was seen with the separation of the epithets in the introductory part of the hymn, which are related to the parts comming in the request made, showing an evolution of the subject. An external relationship was also seen, in other texts the goddess is mentioned.

Abstract: This work aims to study the hospitality traits contained within Coluto's O Rapto de Helena.
This poem reaches us and deals with a theme, whose central point is found in the title of the
work. The study will specifically analyzes on the actions between Paris and Helen, the
hospitality offered to the Trojan prince, the fate of Helen traced by Aphrodite, the conduct of
Helen, the break in hospitality and the Hermione's dream, as the origin of the Trojan war. We
will seek to proceed with the analysis of these elements based on bibliographic studies that
point to theories that encompass both the religion and thought of the ancient Greek people, as
well as the religion and thought of the Greek people of the period called late antiquity. For this
analysis to be efficient, we will present a translation of the excerpts that will be analyzed, in
order to provide the reader with an intelligible understanding of the work and the analysis
presented.
