Abstract: This Architecture and Urbanism Final Course Project presents an action-livingresearch conducted in the Aldeia São Miguel, Potiguara Indigenous Land of Paraíba.
Starting from an autobiographical and counter-colonial approach, the study unfolds
from the extension project 'Building the Territorial and Environmental Management
Plan: Aldeia São Miguel - Baía da Traição'
, linked to the Interdisciplinary Research
Group on Culture, Society and Environment (GIPCSA) and the Curica Indigenous
Socioenvironmental Association (Rede Curica), in partnership with local collectives
and associations, such as the Nhembo’e Katu Collective, Paraibamel and Casa da Lua,
and other parts of the Potiguara Territory and civil society in general. The
investigation problematizes the socio-environmental impacts in the São Miguel
Village, such as colonial and modernizing urbanization, exploitative tourism, and the
deforestation caused by the sugarcane plantation, which generate conflicts and
threaten the sociocultural and economic reproduction of this People-Territory.
Through the weaving of diagnostics and discussions about local territoriality, this
essay aims to develop theoretical, philosophical, and propositional subsidies for the
Territorial and Environmental Management of São Miguel Village. The methodology,
conceptualized as 'playing at the roça' (playing in the swidden), is a rhizomatic
exercise that articulates social cartography, ethnomapping, ethnographic research,
participant observation, and write-living. Through ethnomapping workshops,
dialogical walks, and community immersion, the work records the worldviews,
demands, and dreams of the Potiguara of São Miguel. The theoretical foundation is
anchored in Global South epistemologies and Afro-Amerindian ancestral knowledge,
dialoguing with concepts such as Good Living (Buen Vivir), counter-coloniality, and
body-territory. The results materialize in three main axes: the technical-sensitive

Autor(es): Silva, Maria Lucy Lopes Rodrigues da

Abstract: This research investigates expressions of interest in architecture in
Latin America in Brazilian specialized journals in the mid-1980s.
Latin America during this period was marked by movements in
local responses to the exhaustion and crisis of modernism. These
movements culminated in the creation of new platforms for
debate, including the Latin American Architecture Seminars
(SALs). Based on the debates initiated by figures who constituted
the SALs, such as Marina Waisman, Enrique Browne, Lala Mendez
Mosquera, among others, new events were held with the aim of
continuing the discussions. Specifically, the First Ibero-American
Meeting of Architecture Magazines resulted in the drafting of a
cooperation document: the Santiago Agreement, which brought
together representatives from 20 magazines (19 Latin American
and one Spanish) with the aim of promoting editorial exchange
and expanding the dissemination of regional architectural
production. From the perspective of the commitments made in
this agreement, this research focuses on analyzing the Brazilian
representatives, Módulo and Projeto, in editions published
between late 1985 and 1986. The objective was to identify the
developments of the Santiago Agreement in the Brazilian
magazines that signed it, focusing on the editions published in
the final months of 1985 and throughout 1986. The study also
compares the editorial profiles of the two magazines, comparing
them in terms of their similarities and differences. Thus, the
research contributes to theoretical investigations on Latin
American production, dialoguing with specialized literature
developed by authors such as Maluenda (2021), Waisman (2013),
Gorelik (2003), Lara (2012), Sousa (2021), among others
