Abstract: The fragmentation of native Atlantic Forest vegetation compromises ecological connectivity by reducing&#xD;
habitat availability. The objective of this study was to assess ecological and functional connectivity in the&#xD;
Pindobal and Sertãozinho fragments on the northern coast of Paraíba, with the aim of supporting the creation&#xD;
of Conservation Units. Data on land use and land cover, landscape metrics, Euclidean distance analysis to the&#xD;
nearest fragment (ENN), and modeling of potential functional connectivity using Circuit Theory in a GIS&#xD;
environment were utilized. The results revealed a heavily anthropized landscape with a sugarcane matrix,&#xD;
high fragmentation, low availability of core areas, and a significant edge effect, particularly in the Savanna&#xD;
Formation. However, the largest remnant areas were closer to the nearest fragment (ENN), indicating&#xD;
potential for maintaining structural connectivity. Nevertheless, functional connectivity was found to be&#xD;
limited by the high resistance of the anthropogenic matrix, concentrating potential routes in strategic areas&#xD;
and highlighting the importance of intermediate fragments and ecological corridors. It is concluded that the&#xD;
creation of Conservation Units combined with ecological restoration guided by connectivity criteria can&#xD;
strengthen biodiversity conservation, increase landscape permeability, and support municipal environmental&#xD;
planning.

Abstract: Urbanization causes profound changes in natural ecosystems, modifying habitat structure and&#xD;
favoring species capable of exploiting anthropogenic environments. In this context, Anolis sagrei stands out for its high ecological plasticity and broad capacity to adapt to urban environments. The present study aimed to observe the behavior and adaptation of Anolis sagrei in ornamental gardens located along International Drive, in the Sand Lake neighborhood, Orlando,&#xD;
Florida (USA), evaluating habitat use and the factors that may favor its persistence in these&#xD;
environments. Field observations were conducted in June and December 2024, early March&#xD;
and November 2025, and February 2026, with approximately five sampling days during each&#xD;
field campaign and observation sessions lasting an average of one hour, predominantly conducted between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Climatic conditions varied among field campaigns,&#xD;
encompassing the beginning of summer in June, the beginning of winter in December, the end&#xD;
of winter in March, the transition between autumn and winter in November, and the coldest&#xD;
winter period in February. Data were obtained through direct observations, photographic records, audiovisual recordings, and field notes. The results showed that the species predominantly used hedges as shelter, refuge, and perches, alternating its occupation between ornamental vegetation and sun-exposed paved areas for thermoregulation. It was also observed&#xD;
that gardens subjected to automated irrigation and covered with organic ground cover (mulch)&#xD;
provided favorable conditions for the maintenance of microhabitats used by the species. During the study, an opportunistic event of nocturnal feeding activity was recorded at 8:55 p.m.&#xD;
on November 6, 2025, when two individuals were filmed capturing insects probably attracted&#xD;
by artificial LED lighting. Although A. sagrei is recognized as a predominantly diurnal species, this record suggests high behavioral plasticity in response to a localized increase in food&#xD;
availability. The results reinforce the importance of ornamental gardens as microhabitats capable of supporting populations of small vertebrates in urbanized areas and contribute to expanding knowledge of urban ecology and lizard adaptation to anthropogenic environments.

Abstract: Despite the well-established importance of mangrove ecosystems in mitigating the&#xD;
impacts of climate change, significant knowledge gaps remain regarding carbon stocks in&#xD;
specific ecosystem compartments, particularly necromass. In this context, the present study&#xD;
aimed to quantify and compare carbon stocks in the biomass and necromass of conserved and&#xD;
degraded mangrove forests in the Mamanguape River estuary, Paraíba, northeastern Brazil.&#xD;
Carbon stocks were estimated for aboveground and belowground biomass, as well as&#xD;
aboveground and belowground necromass, at two conserved forest sites and four degraded&#xD;
forest sites. The results showed that total carbon stocks (biomass + necromass) ranged from&#xD;
2.9 ± 2.3 to 129.3 ± 15.2 Mg C/ha. In the conserved forests, biomass accounted for the largest&#xD;
proportion of the total carbon stock, whereas necromass predominated in the degraded areas.&#xD;
Furthermore, the conserved sites exhibited significantly higher carbon stocks than the&#xD;
degraded sites, highlighting the importance of maintaining vegetation structural integrity for&#xD;
the preservation of blue carbon. Mangrove forest degradation in the Mamanguape River&#xD;
estuary is primarily associated with alterations in hydrological connectivity, which impair the&#xD;
ecosystem's capacity to store carbon. These findings emphasize the need to implement&#xD;
hydrological restoration as a strategy to recover ecosystem functioning and enhance the&#xD;
carbon sequestration potential of mangrove forests.&#xD;

    <summary type="text">Título: Levantamento florístico do Campus IV da Universidade Federal da Paraíba - PB

Abstract: Urban afforestation plays an important role in improving environmental quality,&#xD;
conserving biodiversity, and promoting human well-being. This study aimed to identify&#xD;
the plant species present at Campus IV of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB),&#xD;
located in the Mamanguape and Rio Tinto units. The survey was conducted from&#xD;
October 2022 to December 2025 through exploratory field walks, with species&#xD;
identification based on specialized literature and the Flora do Brasil database. A total of&#xD;
129 species were recorded, distributed among 47 botanical families. The Rio Tinto unit&#xD;
presented 108 species, while Mamanguape recorded 68 species, with 49 species&#xD;
shared between both units. The families with the highest species richness were&#xD;
Fabaceae (12), Apocynaceae (10), and Araceae (9). Although 58% of the recorded&#xD;
species were exotic, 76% of the tree individuals were native. The Anacardiaceae family&#xD;
accounted for 37% of the tree individuals, and the cashew tree (Anacardium&#xD;
occidentale L.) was the most abundant species, with 151 individuals. Additionally, 12&#xD;
species endemic to Brazil, seven threatened species, and nine species shared with the&#xD;
Barra do Rio Mamanguape Environmental Protection Area were recorded, highlighting&#xD;
the importance of Campus IV for the conservation of regional flora and biodiversity.
