Abstract: Apiculture, an agricultural activity characterized by low environmental
impact and high profitability, depends on the availability of floral resources for the
sustainability of production, making essential the knowledge of local vegetation to
optimize hive management and reduce artificial feeding. The present study aims to
conduct a floristic survey of the arboreal and shrubby apicultural pasture in an area
destined for the implementation of a model apiary at the Center for Human, Social, and
Agrarian Sciences (CCHSA/UFPB), located in Bananeiras-PB. The research, conducted
between August and December 2024, involved the identification of species in six
sample plots, evaluating 331 plant individuals distributed across 21 families and 49
botanical species. The most representative families were Fabaceae, Myrtaceae,
Apocynaceae, and Anacardiaceae. The species Talisia esculenta stood out for the
highest abundance, followed by Xylopia sericea and Vismia guianensis. The ten most
abundant species, corresponding to 61% of the sampled individuals, mainly provide
pollen to bees, with 40% of them also offering nectar. The results demonstrate the
significant potential of the area for apicultural production, especially for pollen-based
products such as propolis and royal jelly, supported by the annual distribution of floral
resources. It is concluded that the vegetation surrounding the model apiary presents
ecological and productive relevance, and it is necessary to deepen studies on the
phenology of the species and plant-bee interactions in order to ensure greater precision
in understanding the local api-flora and favor the traceability of apicultural products.

Abstract: Dairy goat farming in Paraíba holds a prominent national position and is a
strategic activity for the family farming sector in the semi-arid region, although it faces
limitations in technical assistance and producer training. In this context, university extension
connects academic knowledge with local wisdom. This study aimed to systematize
methodological experiences from extension projects between 2022 and 2025 at UFPB's Campus
III, focusing on the training of goat milk producers in Paraíba. The methodology used was
Holiday’s experience systematization method, which helped identify relevant learnings through
the analysis of project proposals and final reports. The empirical material included institutional
documents analyzed using Bardin's thematic content analysis technique. The results reveal a
similar methodological pattern with common stages: defining locations and institutional
partnerships, prior training of students, field diagnosis, development of teaching materials, and
producer training. Challenges were identified in three areas: methodological (lack of continuous
evaluation and a database), structural (property and logistical limitations), and relational
(dependence on intermediary institutions). Based on these findings, guidelines are proposed for
future extension actions, such as continuous evaluation protocols, adaptive schedules, active
methodologies, and formalizing the integration of local knowledge. These recommendations,
aligned with the principles of popular education and dialogical extension, aim to strengthen
extension activities in dairy goat farming in the region.

Abstract: The Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) is a pest of economic importance, and
its mass rearing requires efficient and low-cost artificial diets. This study evaluated the
effect of diets with alternative protein sources (peanut and soy extract) on the larval and
immature stage viability of C. capitata, compared to the control diet with brewer's yeast.
The experiment was conducted at the Phytosanitary Clinic of CCHSA-UFPB,
Bananeiras-PB, in a completely randomized design with three treatments and four
replications. Fifty larvae were inoculated in 20 g of diet per replication, with evaluations
after 12 days (pupal formation) and 20 days (adult emergence). Non-parametric
statistical analysis (Kruskal-Wallis) revealed significant differences (p<0.05) in larval
viability (T1: 53.5% ± 28.5; T2: 0% ± 0; T3: 19% ± 14.8) and pupal viability (T1:
81.5% ± 11.3; T2: 0% ± 0; T3: 67.1% ± 39.3). The peanut diet resulted in 100% larval
mortality, while soy showed intermediate viability. The results indicate that soy extract
may be a partial alternative to yeast, but peanut is unsuitable, possibly due to
antinutritional factors.

Abstract: Rural settlements are land previously considered non-productive. And to assess the
sustainability of these family agroecosystems, it is essential to employ indicatorsthat help
measure performance and identify any problems to be solved. Thus, the objective of this
work was to evaluate the sustainability of the Florestan Fernandes Settlement, located in
Pilões, PB. Using the MESMIS methodology (Framework for the Evaluation of Natural
Resource Management Systems Incorporating Sustainability Indicators), 12 families were
interviewed through a semi-structured questionnaire containing 31 indicators distributed
in three dimensions: environmental; social; and economic. The results showedthat all the
evaluated settlements presented regular levels of sustainability. The study highlights the
importance of implementing interventions to facilitate the agroecological transition and
promote socio-environmental and economic development in the settlement. The MESMIS
methodology identifies that the sustainability of the settlement and agroecosystems of
Florestan Fernandes, located in Pilões, PB is regular. And it highlights the need for
improvements in some indicators for each dimension, especially the economic one, as it
becomes a useful tool to identify critical areas and guide action plansadapted to the
specific needs of the family agroecosystem.
