Abstract: Strength training with blood flow restriction (BFR) has been shown to be a promising
strategy for populations with functional limitations, such as overweight elderly
individuals. This study aimed to analyze the effects of strength training with blood flow
restriction on liver function and body composition in overweight elderly women. Forty
overweight elderly women aged between 60 and 77 (66.07 ± 4.14) years were randomly
assigned to three strength training (ST) groups using low load combined with RFS
(ST+RFS); moderate load (ST); and low load (ST), in addition to a control group (CON).
The experiment lasted 16 weeks, with three weekly sessions, two exercises for the
lower limbs and two for the upper limbs, non-consecutive, containing three sets of 10
repetitions. The variables included were: body mass (BM), body mass index (BMI) and
body fat percentage (%BF), analyzed using the InBody 570 Biospace®; fasting blood
samples were collected before and after the intervention to analyze liver function:
alanine transferase (ALT), aspartate transferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP),
gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT), total, direct and indirect bilirubin, albumin and total
proteins; quantified by the CHEMWELL-T automated biochemical analyzer. The
Kruskall-Wallis test was used to compare the groups. In the pre and post moments in
each group, the Wilcoxon rank sum test was used, and considering the time and group
factors, generalized linear models were used. The results showed that there was a
significant reduction in total and indirect bilirubin in the TFBC + RFS group (P = 0.015;
P = 0.0014) and in ALT in the TFCM group (P = 0.029). However, there was an
increase in AST in the TFBC group compared to CON and in FAL in the TFCM group
compared to TFBC and CON and there were no significant changes in MC (P = 0.110),
BMI (P = 0.312) and %F (P = 0.312). It is concluded that 16 weeks of TFBC + RFS
was not sufficient to present significant changes in body composition variables, but
was efficient in positively altering liver function markers in overweight elderly women,
promoting the reduction of total and indirect bilirubin.

Abstract: Marathon running, beyond being a long-distance sporting event, is configured as

a sociocultural phenomenon that mobilizes emotions, narratives of self-
overcoming, collective bonds, and symbolic meanings. This study aimed to

understand the ambience created by recreational runners from the decision to
run a marathon to crossing the finish line, analyzing how challenges, emotions,
social interactions, and cultural contexts structure this experience. This is a
qualitative study with a descriptive-interpretive approach, conducted with 42
recreational runners from the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Data collection
included a sociodemographic questionnaire, semi-structured interviews,
observations during training sessions and races, and a field diary. The narratives
were analyzed through Bardin’s Content Analysis (2016) and organized into
thematic categories encompassing motivations, challenges, strategies,
emotions, and ambience. The results are structured according to the
Scandinavian academic model of evaluation, culminating in the submission of
four scientific articles. The findings demonstrate that the decision to run a
marathon emerges from multiple factors, including the desire for personal
achievement, the reconstruction of life histories, a sense of belonging to running
groups, peer influence, social recognition, and the pursuit of intense existential
experiences. Preparation involves discipline, sacrifices, and physical and
emotional strain, but also support from family members, coaches, peers, and
digital networks. During the race, runners experience an emotional cycle marked
by anxiety, fear, pain, euphoria, gratitude, transcendence, and, at times, extreme
suffering. The environment—comprising sounds, landscapes, spectators,
symbols, rituals, and social relationships—exerts a direct influence on motivation,
pain coping, and the continuation of the race. It is concluded that the marathon
constitutes a contemporary rite of passage in which body, emotion, and culture
intertwine, generating identity re-significations and strengthening social bonds.
Therefore, the practice transcends the physiological dimension and is reaffirmed
as a symbolic, emotional, and collective experience.

Abstract: In the contemporary world, it is estimated that 14% of the world's population is affected
by some type of mental disorder, depression appears among the most common.
Depressive symptoms and signs can be isolated or somatized, the most common of
which include tiredness, lack of motivation, and inability to feel pleasure in life.
Depressive symptoms reflect on different areas of the individual's life, such as work,
leisure and social life, causing social isolation. The Unified Health System-SUS has a
network of services and professionals for mental health care, which promotes the
individual's recovery, reintegration and quality of life. Body practices are part of a set
of strategies that aim to improve the health and well-being of individuals, and assist in
physical and mental recovery, bringing benefits to self-esteem, motivation, and social
interactions. Therefore, the present study had the general objective of analyzing the
perception of users with depressive symptoms of a Psychosocial Care Center on the
contribution of bodily practices in the development of self-perception and social
interaction. This is a qualitative study, and the technique chosen was Content Analysis
proposed by Bardin. In total, 06 subjects were interviewed, 05 men and 1 woman, all
participating in the body practices of the Psychosocial Care Center - CAPS II - Doctor
Edimilson Cunha Melo in the municipality of Sapé-PB. The inclusion criteria were: a)
agreeing to participate in the study voluntarily; b) be at least 18 years old; c) be a
person who presented depressive symptoms diagnosed by the CAPS II service in the
city of Sapé-PB. The survey results demonstrated that respondents have a positive
perception of their self-esteem, despite depressive symptoms. By participating in
bodily practices, they significantly contributed to the subjects' social interaction,
reducing isolation. The users' experience with bodily practices helped to alleviate the
whirlwind of feelings and limitations arising from depressive symptoms, reflecting on
sensations, family relationships, and social coexistence. In this way, the relevance of
bodily practices in the therapeutic project of people suffering from depressive
symptoms can be seen. Furthermore, the research findings highlight the relevance of
the Physical Education Professional in the care team for people with mental disorders.
From this perspective, the study also points to the importance of greater investments
in the field of Mental Health, to offer better service conditions to users.

Abstract: Assuming teacher well-being as a relational product, possible in everyday school life, despite
the many unfavorable conditions and situations within its reach, this work problematized the
investigation of how teacher well-being occurs in educational situations. Through the Pedagogy
of Corporeality, the guiding question was defined as follows: what aspects of the “personal
ecology of teaching”, within the context of guidance situations, contribute to promoting the
well-being of the Physical Education teacher? We aimed to analyze the production of teacher
well-being, in the “Situations of Teacher Orientation Movement”. The research participants
were three Physical Education teachers of Elementary School I of the Municipal Public
Network of João Pessoa-PB, with different working times in their teaching career. To obtain
data in this qualitative research, we used the technique of direct observation and semi-structured
interviews, using as instruments: observation script, field notebook and imagery records
(photography and filming of classes). With the observation of 10 classes, for each teacher,
therefore 30 class hours, observed and analyzed, we describe the existing ambience in the
different situations of teaching movement, from the design of analytical semiotics, Scriptural
method, constituted by the actional, semantic and hermeneutics of the Pedagogy of
Embodiment: we categorize the educational situations of guidance existing in the Physical
Education class; we verified the relationship between the educational situation of guidance and
the production of teacher well-being/discomfort and we characterized the educational situations
of guidance that favor Teacher Well-Being. The analyzes showed us that, in the exercise of
teaching, the attitudes towards oneself, explicit in the communicative settings of sound, visuals
and gestures created by the teacher, reflect, above all, the ambience of their class, which may
or may not produce a favorable educational environment to student learning, and therefore to
teacher well-being. Soon, we realized that, among the collaborating professors investigated, it
was possible, through the constituents of the Personal Ecology of Teaching, to identify which
were the generating factors of professor well-being.
