Abstract: Illness and hospitalization are complex experiences that can generate significant emotional
and psychosocial impacts on patients. In hospital settings, these effects may compromise
adjustments to hospitalization, treatment adherence, and clinical recovery, highlighting the
need for systematic psychological assessments tailored to this context. Given the lack of
standardized instruments that assess emotional complexity in an integrated manner, this study
aimed to analyze preliminary evidence of content validity of the Emotional Complexity Scale
for Hospitalized Patients (ECEPH). This is a methodological, instrumental study developed
through a theoretical review, clinical experience in a medical ward, and evaluation by expert
judges. The ECEPH consists of 34 items organized into five domains: cognitive and
behavioral functioning; clinical-emotional context; coping resources in illness process;
psychosocial risk factors during hospitalization; and stressors in the hospital environment.
Content validity was examined using quantitative and qualitative analyses of the items,
applying the Content Validity Coefficient. The results demonstrated satisfactory indices, with
minor revisions based on expert feedback. The findings suggest that ECEPH presents
adequate preliminary evidence of content validity and represents a promising tool to support
hospital psychological assessment, psychological risk identification, and clinical intervention
planning during hospitalization.; La enfermedad y la hospitalización constituyen experiencias complejas que pueden generar
impactos emocionales, psicológicos y psicosociales significativos en los pacientes. En el
contexto hospitalario, estas repercusiones pueden interferir en la adaptación a la internación,
la adherencia al tratamiento y la recuperación clínica, lo que evidencia la necesidad de
evoluciones psicológicas sistematizadas y contextualizadas. Ante la escasez de instrumentos
estandarizados que evalúen de forma integrada la complejidad emocional de pacientes
hospitalizados, este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar evidencias preliminares de validez de
contenido de la Escala de Complejidad Emocional en Pacientes Hospitalizados (ECEPH). Se
trata de un estudio metodológico, de carácter instrumental, desarrollado a partir de una
revisión teórica, la experiencia clínica en una unidad de Clínica Médica y la evaluación por
jueces expertos. La ECEPH está compuesta por 34 ítems organizados en cinco dominios:
funcionamiento cognitivo y conductual; contexto clínico-emocional; recursos de
afrontamiento ante el proceso de enfermedad; factores de riesgo psicosocial durante la
hospitalización; e factores estressores del entorno hospitalario. La validez de contenido se
evaluó mediante análisis cuantitativos y cualitativos utilizando el Coeficiente de Validez de
Contenido. Los resultados indicaron índices satisfactorios, con ajustes puntuales sugeridos
por los especialistas. Se concluye que la ECEPH presenta evidencias preliminares adecuadas
de validez de contenido y se configura como una herramienta prometedora para la evaluación
psicológica hospitalaria y la planificación de intervenciones clínicas.

Abstract: Amazonian riverine communities have ways of life characterized by strong ties to the land and
specific sociocultural practices that directly influence mental health. This study aimed to
examine indicators of mental distress in a riverine community in the state of Amapá, as well as to
characterize its manifestations and coping strategies. This is a multi-method, exploratory, and
descriptive study involving 30 participants, using the SRQ-20, a sociodemographic
questionnaire, and a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed using descriptive
statistics and content analysis. The results indicated low levels of mental distress (M = 2.97; SD
= 3.38), with 16.7% of participants presenting scores suggestive of distress. A predominance of
somatic manifestations and difficulties in emotional verbalization was observed. The discussion
highlights the influence of cultural factors, such as religiosity and community ties, and
emphasizes the need for psychological assessment practices and instruments sensitive to the
sociocultural specificities of these populations.

Abstract: The study investigates life histories and how unionized domestic workers construct strategies to
cope with and resist suffering in their work. Based on life narratives and semi-structured interviews,
both the material and subjective dimensions of the activity were analyzed, considering gender, race,
and class. The results indicate that domestic work, historically devalued and marked by unequal
relationships, mobilizes affective bonds and experiences of recognition, while simultaneously
reproducing structural inequalities. Union engagement emerges as a space for support, network
building, and raising awareness of rights, fostering the re-signification of the activity and
strengthening strategies of resistance. It was concluded that, even in contexts of precarization,
collective organization contributes to shifting suffering from the individual to the social level,
promoting recognition and empowerment of these workers as rights-bearing subjects.

Abstract: This article analyzes the film Reign Over Me in light of the concepts of love
and self-transcendence proposed by Viktor Frankl’s Logotherapy and Existential
Analysis. Grounded in the Franklian perspective, the study is based on the understanding
of the human being as a biopsychospiritual unity guided by the will to meaning,
highlighting self-transcendence as the essence of human existence and love as one of the
main paths to the realization of meaning. The method used was a narrative literature
review combined with the analysis of scenes from the film, aiming to identify practical
manifestations of theoretical concepts within the cinematic narrative. The analysis shows
that the relationship between the characters Alan Johnson and Charlie Fineman expresses
self-transcendence through self-giving to others, especially in Alan’s attitude of care,
fidelity, and support in the face of his friend’s suffering. Love is also manifested in the
relationship between the characters through the recognition of the other’s uniqueness and
potential. It is concluded that the film constitutes a significant representation of the
principles of Logotherapy, showing that interpersonal encounter and openness to others
can favor the recovery of life’s meaning.
