Abstract: Absorptive Capacity (ACAP) is an important organizational capability related to the
acquisition, assimilation, transformation, and application of external knowledge. Within
Federal Higher Education Institutions (FHEIs), these processes play a fundamental role in
strengthening scientific and technological research. Thus, this study aimed to analyze how
4 absorptive capacity is developed in the university management of a Federal Higher Education
Institution through its Scientific and Technological Initiation Programs. The research is
characterized as qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory. Data were collected through semi structured interviews with seven members of the Institutional Committee for Scientific
Initiation Programs (CIPIC) at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) and subsequently
analyzed using content analysis supported by ATLAS.ti software. The findings indicate that
absorptive capacity is developed through practices of searching for, sharing, adapting, and
applying scientific knowledge involving different institutional actors. The dimensions of
acquisition, assimilation, transformation, and exploitation were identified throughout the
research process. However, the effective application of knowledge is constrained by limitations
related to infrastructure, financial resources, and access to external information. It is concluded
that UFPB has institutional mechanisms that foster the development of absorptive capacity;
however, its strengthening depends on greater investment, stronger integration among
researchers, and the consolidation of institutional strategies focused on knowledge management
and innovation.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the role informal work plays in the lives of self-employed
individuals, whether or not they have a background in administration. It is grounded in the
concept of informal work as a form of independent entrepreneurship that operates outside the
formal and legal frameworks of the labor market. The study employs a qualitative, descriptive
approach guided by the deductive method, encompassing a diverse range of profiles: self-
3
employed individuals with and without administration training, graduates from other fields,
and administration students. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured
interviews, followed by a comprehensive and interpretive analysis. The main results reveal
that entry into this type of work occurs in diverse ways, driven by economic necessity, family
legacy, the pursuit of personal fulfillment, and market opportunities. A strong sense of being
valued was observed among the interviewees, bolstered by word-of-mouth promotion and the
strategic use of social media. Furthermore, a background in administration emerged as a key
differentiator, providing practical tools in finance and marketing to navigate the paradox
between autonomy and financial instability. Thus, informal work serves as a legitimate arena
for autonomy, identity formation, and a means of subsistence, acting as a driver of local
socioeconomic development. In conclusion, informal work fosters recognition through the act
of entrepreneurship, even though practitioners still face challenges related to structural and
financial vulnerabilities.

Abstract: This study analyzed the perceived quality of educational services in the Business
Administration program at the Federal University of Paraíba, Campus IV, and its association
4 with students perceived professional preparedness. It was a descriptive, correlational,
quantitative, and cross-sectional survey with 113 students. The questionnaire, adapted from
SERVQUAL, included sociodemographic data, 13 quality indicators distributed across faculty,
curriculum and professional education, infrastructure and resources, and academic administrative services, as well as one indicator of professional preparedness. Data were
analyzed using descriptive statistics, gap calculations, Cronbach’s alpha, and simple linear
regression. All dimensions showed negative gaps. Faculty had the smallest average gap (-0.62),
whereas infrastructure and resources had the largest (-0.93). The balance between theory and
practice showed the largest individual gap (-1.19). The scale demonstrated good internal
consistency (α = 0.843). Regression indicated a positive and significant association between
perceived quality and professional preparedness, explaining 27.6% of its variation. The analysis
indicates that the perceived quality of educational services is linked to professional education,
suggesting that investments in interactive pedagogical methods, adequate infrastructure, and
connections with the job market can increase students confidence to work in the field of
Administration.

Abstract: Transformations in the supermarket sector, driven by shifts in consumer behavior and
increased competition, have required supermarket chains to adopt strategies that foster
cooperation, innovation, and adaptation to market demands. Against this backdrop, this study
aimed to conduct a strategic mapping of a supermarket chain using the Interaction Dynamics
of Interorganizational Learning (IOL) model, in order to propose strategic guidelines and
actions grounded in Theory U. The study employed qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive
research methods, utilizing coded and categorized interviews to gain deeper insight into the
collected data. The results revealed established interorganizational relationships that were,
however, concentrated on operational and commercial aspects, with limited strategic
knowledge sharing among the chain's units. Based on this diagnosis, guidelines grounded in
Theory U were proposed to strengthen collective learning, cooperation, and innovation. The
study concludes that integrating the IOL model with Theory U provides a basis for enhancing
strategic practices within supermarket chains.
