Título: A atuação estratégica do secretariado executivo no Vale do Mamanguape: competências, trabalho de articulação e reconhecimento profissional
Autor(es): Silva, Rayana Ramos da
Abstract: This article examines how executive secretarial graduates and professionals working in
assistantship and management support roles perceive their own practice in the Vale do
Mamanguape micro-region, in the Brazilian state of Paraíba, focusing on the competencies they
mobilise, the nature of the work they perform and the recognition they receive. The study
follows a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive approach. Data were collected through a self administered electronic questionnaire containing nine open-ended discursive questions,
answered by ten participants currently working in the micro-region. The material was treated
as a corpus of textualised statements and submitted to thematic content analysis as proposed by
Bardin (2011), articulated with the notions of articulation work and invisible work developed
by Star and Strauss (1999) and with Abbott's (1988) concept of professional jurisdiction. The
analysis was organised into four categories: transition from operational support to process
coordination; multidimensional competencies and digital intensification; asymmetrical
recognition and generic job titles; education, regional challenges and future prospects. The
accounts indicate that the described practice exceeds operational support and takes on features
of workflow coordination and support for managerial decision-making, while formal
recognition remains anchored in an operational representation of the role, expressed mainly
through pay and generic job designations. The study concludes that the gap between the work
actually performed and the recognition granted constitutes not only a matter of professional
valuation but also a governance risk for regional organisations, since it concentrates process
memory and deadline control in formally peripheral positions. The research contributes by
reframing the invisibility of secretarial work as an organisational problem rather than merely a
corporate demand of the professional category.

Abstract: This study aims to describe how the role of the educator in hospital settings is addressed in theses
and dissertations within the field of Education, as well as to reflect on the importance of this
professional in the hospital environment. The research is qualitative and bibliographic in nature,
based on academic works selected from the CAPES database and published between 2021 and 2023.
Thirteen theses and dissertations related to hospital pedagogy, educator training, and education in
hospital settings were analyzed. Additionally, an interview was conducted at the General Hospital of
Mamanguape (PB) to understand the reality of pedagogical practice within the pediatric hospital
context. The theoretical framework draws on the contributions of Libâneo (2001, 2010), Saviani
(2011), and Pimenta and Severo (2021), who discuss aspects related to pedagogy, training, and the
professional practice of educators. The results indicate that hospital pedagogy is gaining ground in
academic discussions, although challenges remain regarding professional training, the lack of specific
public policies, and a shortage of qualified professionals to work in this field. It is concluded that the
presence of an educator in the hospital environment is fundamental to guaranteeing the right to
education for hospitalized children and adolescents, contributing to more humanized and inclusive
educational practices.

Abstract: This study investigates the competencies required and the challenges faced by executive secretaries
working in law firms. It is a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study conducted through interviews
with ten executive secretarial professionals employed in law firms located in the Vale do Mamanguape
region, Paraíba, Brazil, in June 2026. The data were analyzed using thematic content analysis (Bardin,
2011). The analysis is grounded in the concepts of invisible work and articulation work (Star & Strauss,
1999), the sociology of professions (Abbott, 1988), and the concept of competence proposed by Fleury
and Fleury (2001). The findings indicate that the management of procedural deadlines constitutes the core
critical responsibility of the profession, carried out under conditions of high responsibility but with no
decision-making authority. Participants spontaneously distinguished the boundaries between their duties
and those of lawyers, supporting the conditions necessary for legal practice without participating in the
legal decision-making process itself. Professional invisibility is reflected in the diversity of job titles: ten
professionals describing essentially the same work routine hold ten differently named positions. The
study also identifies a disconnect between interpersonal recognition and institutional recognition, as well
as the latent nature of bilingual competence, which is acknowledged as valuable but is consistently
underutilized in professional practice. It is concluded that the legal recognition of the profession is a
necessary, but insufficient, condition for achieving broader recognition in the labor market.
