Abstract: The research analyzes the guide of the discipline Empresa Pedagógica (EP), a curricular &#xD;
component of Upper Secondary and Technical Education in the state school system of &#xD;
Paraíba. It refers to the document titled “Empresa Pedagógica: basic training for work”, &#xD;
implemented in the Escolas Cidadãs Integrais and Escolas Cidadãs Técnicas of Paraíba. &#xD;
The aim of the research was to understand the conceptions of youth education that guide the &#xD;
Empresa Pedagógica component and its implications for the constitution of integral education &#xD;
in Upper Secondary School. The analysis uses theoretical frameworks from Christian Laval, &#xD;
Michael Apple, and Luiz Carlos de Freitas to discuss the expansion of neoliberal and &#xD;
entrepreneurial rationality in the Paraíba curriculum, situating EP within the context of &#xD;
educational reforms inspired by competency-based pedagogy. The research systematizes a &#xD;
state of knowledge that highlights the scarcity of studies on the component, but identifies &#xD;
works that point to the fragmentation of education, the centrality of the entrepreneur figure, &#xD;
and the prioritization of competencies aligned with the logic of employability, to the detriment &#xD;
of historical, political, and cultural dimensions. The results and discussion show that EP &#xD;
constitutes a set of policies that reorganize Upper Secondary Education to meet market &#xD;
demands and reinforce training based on human capital theory. By emphasizing &#xD;
entrepreneurial practices and management models, the discipline shifts the notion of integral &#xD;
education and redefines the future expectations of young people in Paraíba by directing them &#xD;
toward entrepreneurship.

Abstract: The present study evaluated the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of Salmonella &#xD;
strains isolated from captive reptiles, including tortoises, snakes, and lizards, aiming &#xD;
to investigate differences among groups and identify potential public health risks. &#xD;
Reptiles were selected due to their relevance as companion animals and their ability &#xD;
to harbor Salmonella, a zoonotic pathogen of clinical importance. A total of 60 &#xD;
bacterial strains were analyzed and subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing &#xD;
against eight antimicrobials, including tetracycline, penicillins, fluoroquinolones, &#xD;
chloramphenicol, gentamicin, and fosfomycin. The results showed that resistance &#xD;
was predominantly observed for tetracycline, especially among strains isolated from &#xD;
snakes (55.6%) and tortoises (20.6%), while resistance to penicillins was detected &#xD;
exclusively in snake isolates. All strains were susceptible to chloramphenicol, &#xD;
gentamicin, and fosfomycin, and intermediate susceptibility profiles were observed &#xD;
only for ciprofloxacin, mainly among snake isolates. No strain was classified as &#xD;
multidrug-resistant, although some exhibited resistance to two or three antimicrobial &#xD;
classes. Differences in resistance profiles among reptile groups may be associated &#xD;
with diet, feeding habits, and previous exposure to antimicrobials in captivity. Overall, &#xD;
the findings indicate a low level of antimicrobial resistance; however, tetracycline and &#xD;
penicillins emerged as antimicrobials with a higher risk of resistance, highlighting the &#xD;
need for continuous monitoring of Salmonella in captive reptiles and the &#xD;
implementation of preventive measures to reduce the dissemination of resistant &#xD;
strains, contributing to public health and biosafety.

Abstract: Pollination is an ecosystem service of regulation, provision, and culture, responsible &#xD;
for producing fruits, seeds, and several other essential resources for humanity. &#xD;
Therefore, it is a service of great importance to the global economy. In recent years, &#xD;
economic interest in the dragon fruit species (Selenicereus spp.) has gained &#xD;
prominence due to its commercial value. Dragon fruits have floral features similar to &#xD;
those of native cacti pollinated by bats in the Caatinga, Brazilian semiarid region. &#xD;
Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the role of bats as effective pollinators &#xD;
of pitaya species in the Caatinga and whether bat diversity is influenced by the &#xD;
landscape. Natural pollination (control), manual pollination, and self-pollination &#xD;
(spontaneous and manual) treatments were performed on pitaya flowers. To assess &#xD;
pollination efficiency, the developed fruits were weighed and the number of seeds &#xD;
estimated. To test the efficiency of nocturnal and diurnal pollination, the flowers were &#xD;
exposed at different times. Finally, to assess the influence of the landscape on &#xD;
chiropteran diversity, mist nets were installed in two distinct locations (preserved vs. &#xD;
deforested) to identify species richness and abundance in the regions. The results &#xD;
indicate that the heaviest fruits were produced by manual cross-pollination in the &#xD;
species S. undatus and S. monacanthus, while S. costaricensis produced larger fruits &#xD;
through manual self-pollination. Furthermore, the number of seeds showed a positive &#xD;
correlation with increased fruit weight. Comparing pollination across different periods &#xD;
indicated that nocturnal pollination produces heavier fruits than diurnal pollination. Bat &#xD;
diversity was higher in the preserved area. Therefore, pitaya plantations become more &#xD;
efficient when formed by more than one pitaya species, producing better-developed &#xD;
fruits. Pollination efficiency can be observed by the number of seeds in the fruit, &#xD;
directly influencing fruit size and weight. Bats are the most efficient pollinators of &#xD;
dragon fruits, although bees can also pollinate these species. Finally, the level of &#xD;
landscape conservation influences bat diversity and, consequently, the pollination &#xD;
services realized by these animals.

Abstract: The success of breeding programs for ornamental plants such as purslanes (Portulaca spp.) is&#xD;
closely linked to the correct identification of ploidy levels. Polyploidization is a technique that&#xD;
generates new genetic combinations and phenotypic variations, making it useful in the&#xD;
improvement of Portulaca spp. due to their ornamental, medicinal, and nutritional value. This&#xD;
study aimed to determine the ploidy level of Portulaca spp. accessions by counting the number&#xD;
of chloroplasts per guard cell, providing support for breeding programs of the species. Leaf&#xD;
samples from 15 genotypes cultivated in a greenhouse were collected and analyzed under an&#xD;
optical microscope (40×). Three stomata from each of five random fields of the leaf were&#xD;
analyzed, and the data were subjected to ANOVA, the Scott–Knott mean test, and Tocher&#xD;
clustering. The observed means varied widely, from 4.93 to 24.65 chloroplasts per guard cell,&#xD;
indicating the presence of different ploidy levels, ranging from diploids to hexaploids. Analysis&#xD;
of variance confirmed significant differences among genotypes (p &lt; 0.001). Tocher clustering&#xD;
classified the accessions into four distinct groups and revealed high genetic divergence between&#xD;
&#xD;
the most contrasting accessions (PU0010 with 24.65 chloroplasts and PU001 with 4.93). Broad-&#xD;
sense heritability was high (98.56%), indicating strong genetic control of the trait. The results&#xD;
&#xD;
confirm that chloroplast counting is an efficient primary tool with high selective accuracy&#xD;
(99.3%), useful for selecting genotypes and guiding crosses for the subsequent development of&#xD;
promising hybrids with desirable characteristics such as vigor, resistance, and ornamental value.
