This dissertation discusses a particular fanfare, the "Antônia Luna Lisboa" Fanfare, belonging to the school of the same name in the municipal education network. It deals with the conflicts that arise from these young people's pursuit of expressing themselves, with their musical tastes, uniforms, and choreographies, in the context of a traditionally more reserved festivity. To achieve this, it relies on interdisciplinary approaches, from Visual Anthropology, Music, and History, to studies of rituals and performances, memory, body, and gender, articulating methodologies such as participant observation, deferred observation, filmic anthropology, and shared anthropology. The riverside community of Porto do Capim, in João Pessoa, Paraíba, has a rich trajectory of formation and defense of its own territory. Taking shape from the 1940s onwards, the community receives different flows of people and over time understands such diversity as a constituent part of its identity from the relationship with the Sanhauá River (ASSAD, 2017). In the 1980s and 1990s, a project to revitalize the historic center began, where the community is located. Due to disagreements about the way in which such a project understands the community’s permanence, the conflict begins, which has its moment of greatest tension in 2019, when the first houses are demolished. From these questions, the present work proposes to bring some reflections on the formation of the riverside identity present in the residents of Porto constituted from the daily relationship between the domestic groups and the groups with the environment from the concept of domination (BARBOSA DA SILVA & MURA, 2018). From this flow of people, ideas and materials, we want to shed light on some dynamics that guide the formation of this identity and the relationship between this and the struggle for the permanence of the community in its territory that fosters organizations such as the Associação de Mulheres do Porto do Porto Capim (AMPC) and the collective of young Garças do Sanhauá. I try to understand their trajectories of arrival at the student residence and their motivations for this choice beyond economic issues as well. In the face of the impossibility of a physical field, since with the pandemic, the residence-school was closed, contact with interlocutors was brokered by digital communication and information technologies -TIC'S, and five physical meetings, making me reflect on the limits and reaches of ethnography in pandemic times. Ten students of both genders attended this research, among residents and ex-residents, as well as three professionals from the institution who work directly in the management and organization of student housing. The data obtained during the research indicated the process of consolidating student assistance on campus and the strategies of coexistence and overcoming difficulties of students during their stays in the student residence. I verified in the speeches of my interlocutors the existence recognition importance of a student residence as an action that guarantees their access and permanence to integrated high school and higher education, offered by the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Piauí - IFPI, Uruçuí Campus, in addition to the resignification of space and relationships that are established by them in the place. Editor: Universidade Federal da Paraíba Tipo: Dissertação 2022-08-29T00:00:00Z https://repositorio.ufpb.br/jspui/handle/123456789/37719 Título: "Presas do trabalho": encarceramento feminino como dispositivo de (re) produção de vulnerabilidades e desigualdades Autor(es): Oliveira, Josilene Ribeiro de Orientador: Ramiro, Patricia Alves Abstract: From the understanding that the prison is a political device of domination and social control that is exercised by regulating the flows, the transit of objects and people, producing and reproducing exclusions and inequalities, the objective of this research is to analyze the dynamics that characterize the social relations and the disciplining process within a prison for women in conflict with the law. The locus of the research is the Maria Júlia Maranhão Women's Prison, where an ethnographic study was carried out supported by observation, semi-structured interviews and informal conversations with public servants working in the aforementioned penal unit and with women serving a custodial sentence in a closed regime, among others. February and June 2022. Statistical data on the Brazilian prison population, criminal legislation, reports and other documents made available by the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of Paraíba and by the National Penitentiary Department are also part of the analyzed corpus. The results of the investigation point out that the social markers of gender, race and class differences are articulated in the production of bodies vulnerable to incarceration and, when in prison, in the impact that this has on the prisoner's relationship with her family, in the way the punishment will be experienced and, even, in the possibility of recurrence and chances of success upon release/extrication. Inside the prison, the social dispositions acquired throughout the socialization process, function as a device for separating those defined as suitable and not suitable for internal work in prison. Those women who resist the daily discipline of prison are overly determined by the disqualifying gaze that demeans and excludes them, transforming difference into unequal opportunities and reproducing vulnerabilities. Maintaining the job requires, therefore, more than knowing how to do and carrying out the assigned task properly, as it demands assuming the dominant values and engaging in performances and symbolic exchanges with the surveillance teams, which, in other words, strengthens the punitive, moralizing and disciplining bias of the custodial sentence for women in conflict with the law.
