Autor(es): Dantas, Esdras Renan Farias Orientador: Sousa, Marckson Roberto Ferreira de Abstract: The research aimed to analyze the patterns and trends of the use of predatory journals in the academic practices of faculty researchers, in order to highlight the repercussions of predatory publishing within the institutional scope and to produce analytical support for addressing this phenomenon. Based on the identification of researchers affiliated with the institution and their respective scientific publications, occurrences of publication in predatory journals were analyzed, whose findings provide relevant support for the academic community in understanding and mitigating questionable practices of scientific dissemination. Beyond the local reality, the study can contribute to the development of guidelines, mechanisms, and initiatives that assist researchers, librarians, and managers in dealing with the challenge of predatory publishing. The use of predatory journals is configured as a social and informational phenomenon that manifests in institutional academic practices and that, when analyzed based on identifiable patterns and trends, allows for the evidence of repercussions and the production of analytical subsidies for addressing predatory publishing. The research methodology is based on an empirical and descriptive approach, with a quantitative- qualitative conduct, which provides the conditions to analyze the use of predatory journals by researchers from the analyzed institution. The methodology is characterized by a bibliographic research approach, considering that a literature survey was conducted. Initially of a bibliographic nature, it also reveals documentary aspects, as it used the curricula from the Lattes Platform as documentary sources, and thru the scientific production of the researchers, it reveals the use of predatory journals. The research results demonstrate that there were uses of predatory journals by the researchers of the analyzed institution. The analysis of usage was made possible by cross-referencing faculty production with the classifications of predatory journals recognized in the scientific literature. It allowed for the listing of faculty researchers who published in this type of journal, outlining the respective profiles of the authors, highlighting trends related to the field of knowledge, and groups of researchers. It was found that the use of these journals is not representative of the entirety of the institution's scientific production, but it reveals a phenomenon that deserves institutional attention. The study sought to understand the usage behavior of journals that do not ensure ethical and transparent editorial practices. Thus, it can be inferred that the use of predatory journals and the association of their researchers with such publications can compromise public perception of the institution’s credibility and the science produced. The final considerations reinforce that addressing this phenomenon requires educational and institutional actions, rather than punitive ones.; RESUMEN La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar los patrones y tendencias del uso de revistas depredadoras en las prácticas académicas de los investigadores docentes, con el fin de evidenciar las repercusiones de la publicación depredadora en el ámbito institucional y producir subsidios analíticos para hacer frente a este fenómeno. A partir de la identificación de los investigadores vinculados a la institución y de sus respectivas publicaciones científicas, se analizaron las ocurrencias de publicación en revistas depredadoras, cuyos hallazgos ofrecen subsidios relevantes para la comunidad académica en la comprensión y mitigación de prácticas cuestionables de divulgación científica. Más allá de la realidad local, el estudio puede contribuir al desarrollo de directrices, mecanismos e iniciativas que ayuden a investigadores, bibliotecarios y gestores a afrontar el desafío de la publicación depredadora. Los resultados de la investigación demuestran que hubo usos de revistas depredadoras por parte de los investigadores de la institución analizada. El análisis del uso fue posible a partir del cruce entre la producción docente y las clasificaciones de revistas depredadoras reconocidas en la literatura científica. Permitió enumerar a los investigadores docentes que publicaron en este tipo de revista, trazando los perfiles respectivos de los autores, evidenciando tendencias relacionadas con el área de conocimiento y los grupos de investigadores. Se constató que el uso de estas publicaciones no es representativo de la totalidad de la producción científica de la institución, pero revela un fenómeno que merece atención institucional. The research aims to investigate the information behavior activities of Civil Police officers in Paraíba, as well as analyze the process of information seeking and use, identify police officers as information users, verify the functionality of systems and the presence of barriers, and connect academic issues to the field of public security. The methodology employed was a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire administered to 61 civil police officers. The analysis examined user profiles, information seeking and use needs, and information behavior activities. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and Laurence Bardin's content analysis, along with the categories of the sensemaking model (situation, gap, bridge, and helpers). The results revealed that most of the police officers analyzed are between 41 and 50 years old, male, of mixed race, married, with a postgraduate level of education, holding the position of agent or clerk, and with an average of 11 to 20 years of service. Their main informational activities are document preparation, data collection, and analysis. The frequency of daily searches was most frequently cited, focusing on administrative demands. The main motivation for searches is the identification of criminals. They report difficulties in accessing information and consider the sources incomplete. The most cited barriers are the lack of technological, material, and human resources. To assess the reliability of information, they rely on the origin of the source and cross-referencing of data. Most feed the information systems and declare themselves satisfied with the informational process. The most applied strategies include the use of technology and on-site data collection. The main challenges faced are the lack of training and inter-institutional collaboration. As improvements, they highlight the integration of databases and continuous training. The study identified the information behavior activities of civil police officers in Paraíba, which are influenced by situational, cultural, and organizational demands, and by the need for quick decisions. The importance of information management in the Paraíba Civil Police (PCPB) is highlighted, to address the need for actions to fill information gaps. The thesis demonstrated that, from the perspective of information behavior studies under the Sense Making model, the analysis of situations fosters the development of technical-scientific knowledge in the field of information science, benefiting the construction of contributions to the agencies responsible for public security. The study contextualizes the library not merely as a repository of books, but as a dynamic space for information mediation and social resistance in the face of contemporary challenges, such as health crises, environmental catastrophes in Rio Grande do Sul, and the proliferation of disinformation. The research was guided by the following question: How do the products, services, and initiatives implemented by the BPE align with the SDGs, considering the strategies adopted, the competence of professionals, and the implications of cultural and information policies for equity and sustainability in its local context? The general objective of the study was to investigate the products, services, and initiatives implemented by the BPE, as well as their alignment with the SDGs, considering the strategies adopted, the level of competence and understanding of the professionals working within the informational space, and the implications of cultural and information policies in favor of equity and sustainability across different social levels and segments. Based on the problem statement—How do the products, services, and initiatives implemented by the BPE align with the SDGs, considering the strategies adopted, the competence of professionals, and the implications of cultural and information policies for equity and sustainability in its local context?—the research adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach, using bibliographic and documentary research, semi-structured interviews with managers, and questionnaires administered to the technical staff as procedures. For the analysis of cultural actions, data were collected from the institution’s social media platforms between 2015 and 2025, identifying how these initiatives relate to the global goals. The data were analyzed using Bardin’s content analysis. The findings reveal that the BPE carries out a wide range of activities which, although not always formally planned under the framework of the 2030 Agenda, align organically with the SDGs. A total of 91 actions were mapped, distributed across categories such as literature, music, exhibitions, and special initiatives. There was a clear predominance of actions linked to SDG 4 (Quality Education — 43.12%) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities — 27.52%). Projects such as “BPE+Cultura,” carried out in the physical surroundings of the library, and “Chapéu Acústico” demonstrate the institution’s ability to occupy urban space and promote social inclusion and democratic access to culture. The study also identified the importance of partnerships (SDG 17), through the Association of Friends of the BPE (AABPE), which enables financial resources via incentive laws (such as the Rouanet Law) for restoration and cultural programming, helping to offset the inconsistency of public budgets. However, the questionnaire results indicate a low level of specific knowledge among professionals regarding the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the absence of structured public policies that ensure continuous investment and ongoing training. The central thesis of the study is that the BPE acts as a social transformation agent whose actions and services are organically and intrinsically aligned with the SDGs of the UN 2030 Agenda. This alignment is not the result of explicit formal planning, but emerges from the essential nature of the library as a democratic, inclusive institution committed to universal access to knowledge—values that structurally correspond to the global commitments to sustainable development. This study aims to analyze the perception of acceptance and use of the Hybrid Textbook Model by teachers and students in Middle School, using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model at a private educational institution in João Pessoa, Paraíba. The research adopted a quantitative approach, descriptive and explanatory in nature, with data collection conducted through questionnaires applied to 20 teachers and 60 students who used textbooks developed based on the Hybrid Textbook Model for a period of one to three years. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including correlation and variance analyses. The results indicated a high acceptance of the Hybrid Textbook Model by both groups through the UTAUT constructs, with teachers demonstrating significantly higher perceptions and engagement than students. Correlation analyses between the constructs provided support for the validation of the research hypotheses, highlighting that the Hybrid Textbook Model is perceived as an effective tool, easy to use, and with facilitating conditions for application in the educational context. The practical implications of the study suggest that the adoption of the Hybrid Textbook Model by educational institutions is feasible and beneficial, requiring low investment in infrastructure. For developers, the findings provide guidelines for designing Hybrid Textbook Model that prioritize performance and effort expectations, in addition to incorporating adaptive Learning Objects that promote multiple learning styles, aligned with screen time and cognitive well- being guidelines. In Information Science, the research contributes to the theory of Information Mediation by analyzing the Hybrid Textbook Model as an active element in facilitating access to and use of information in school environments, in addition to characterizing Generation Alpha's interaction with technological resources. Ultimately, the study reinforces the imperative need for a primary education that guides critical thinking and accurate interpretation of information, essential elements for the development of thinking societies and continuous evolution.
