Abstract: This work aims to analyze the relevance of listening to the perceptions of high school students about the work Zoom (1995), by István Banyai, and to investigate how this visual narrative can favor the development of a critical and reflective reading among students. The research seeks to understand how the sequences of images present in the book, which dispense with the use of words, stimulate the students' ability to interpret and encourage the construction of more complex meanings. The theoretical foundation of this study is based on the contributions of Bajour (2012), Solé (1992), Ramos (2018), Silva (2019) and Araújo (2012), and is complemented by the guidelines of the 2017 National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), which guide pedagogical practices in High School. The work also reflects on the importance of integrating visual approaches into the school curriculum, promoting the expansion of students' cognitive skills and encouraging more dynamic learning.

Título: Uma análise de(s)colonial do romance “Maréia”, de Miriam Alves

Abstract: The present Course Completion Work analyzes the novel Maréia (2019), by Miriam Alves, from the perspective of Descolonial Theory, focusing on the study of the characters Alfredo and Maréia, protagonists of the narrative. The research explores how the work addresses the Portuguese invasion and its effects on racial and social relations in Brazil, the exploitation of the land, the use of enslaved labor, the struggle of marginalized populations against oppression, and the affirmation of their identities. The objective is to reflect on the dynamics of power and resistance present in the work, as well as the deconstruction of hegemonic discourses in Brazilian literature. The analysis centers on the dichotomy between the characters Alfredo, the white heir of a traditional family representing the privileges and perspective of the colonizer, and Maréia, the black heir who values her African ancestry and symbolizes cultural resistance. Descolonial Theory is used to question the power structures that perpetuate coloniality and to understand how Miriam Alves breaks with Eurocentric logic, transforming black characters, who were represented as objects in canonical white literature, into subjects of their own history. We conclude that the novel Maréia can be seen as an act of decolonization, in which the author Miriam Alves legitimizes the black experience and identity in Brazilian literature. The theoretical references for the research include authors such as Cida Bento, Conceição Evaristo, and Achille Mbembe, who discuss racial and social inequality issues and make significant contributions to Descolonial Theory. It is also supported by the thinker Grada Kilomba, who analyzes the fact that racism is not only a historical problem but a present and structural issue that deeply affects subjectivities and social relations. These authors contribute to a critical analysis of power and identity structures, as well as racial and social relations in the Brazilian and global context.

As representações da mulher bruxa em “Caminhando com os mortos” de Micheliny Verunschk

Título: As representações da mulher bruxa em “Caminhando com os mortos” de Micheliny Verunschk

Abstract: Historically, the fi gure of the witch, strongly associated with the female body during the witch
hunts, functioned as a central stereotype to marginalize and persecute women in the transition
from feudalism to capitalism. In reality, what was presented as a religious reparation by the
Tribunal of the Holy Offi ce was nothing more than a hunt for women, their autonomy, freedom,
and protagonism. The novel Caminhando com os Mortos (2023), by Micheliny Verunschk,
evokes this historical reality of violence against female bodies which, although it may seem
obsolete, fi nds resonances in contemporaneity, establishing a dialogical movement between
fi ction and reality. This work, supported by the historical context of the witch hunts and the
transition from feudalism to capitalism ─ based on the theoretical assumptions of Barstow
(1995), Federici (2019), Kramer and Sprenger (2024), Russel and Alexander (2019), and
Chollet (2022) ─ explains what the witch hunts were, mainly in Europe and how they occurred
in Brazil, investigating the persistence of the stereotyping of women as witches in reality and
how these violences are represented in the narrative in question. Given this, the general
objective of this work was to identify and characterize female representations in the work
Caminhando com os Mortos . To this end, as a specifi c objective, a descriptive analysis of the
characters Celeste and Eulália was carried out, based on studies on the fi ctional character by
Candido (2014) and the work on natural witchcraft by Airin (2021). In this sense, both
characters represent the fi gure of the witch woman, although with distinct meanings. Celeste,
subjugated by religiosity and a victim of fi re, evokes the historical memory of countless women
who suff ered the torment of the stake during the witch hunts, not encouraging a perspective of
life, but representing its loss. In contrast, Eulália dedicates herself to her inner healing through
plants, establishing a link with nature, perpetuating her female ancestry, and revealing
characteristic traits of green witchcraft.
