Abstract: The aim of this paper is to report on the experience of directing the film Serena Perfection from the perspective of a woman director and to discuss the challenges faced in this process. Among the topics covered are the dynamics of directing and the visual conception of the film from an artistic perspective focused on women. The conclusion of this work reinforces the theoretical and practical fronts regarding the importance of female participation in cinematographic creation, and its impact on narrative conception outside the hegemonic male gaze.

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the significance of representation for individuals with visual impairments in the conception of audiovisual works, with a particular focus on the role of screenwriters. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive literature review was conducted addressing topics such as representation in audiovisual media, stereotypes associated with individuals with visual impairments, and authorship in cinema. Building upon these discussions, an exploratory analysis was performed on four episodes of the series “In the Dark” (2019), which features characters with visual impairments and includes episodes authored by a screenwriter with a visual impairment. The analysis employed Nelson's (1994) categories of stereotypes and a scene count to examine instances where the visual impairment of the characters is highlighted. The conclusion suggests that the involvement of a screenwriter with a visual impairment significantly influences the final outcome of the
audiovisual product and the representation of characters with disabilities.

Abstract: The presence of women in film criticism has become essential for valuing and increasing the visibility of films made by women. Historically, both film production and criticism have been dominated by male perspectives, often leading to narratives that marginalize female experiences and obscure the contributions of pioneering women. This monograph aims to explore initiatives that promote female participation in film criticism, along with the tools and methods developed by women to enhance their impact, as well as the content of their
analyses. The Elviras collective, made up of film critics from across the country, seeks to raise awareness and support the work of female filmmakers while challenging power structures within the film industry. Similarly, the magazine Verberenas serves as a platform for film criticism by women in the audiovisual field, often focusing on works associated with marginal cinema. These organizations play a crucial role in developing perspectives that go beyond dominant narratives, highlighting the work of multiple generations of female directors.
