Abstract: Introduction: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder
characterized by deficits in communication, impairments in interaction and

interpersonal relationships, restricted and stereotyped interests. Among other
characteristics presented by people with ASD, there is an important hypersensitivity
to sensory stimuli, such as sound stimuli. Auditory hypersensitivity is characterized by
discomfort to sounds with certain characteristics, including hyperacusis, misophonia
and phonophobia. Aim: To investigate the prevalence of auditory hypersensitivity in
people with ASD. Methods: A questionnaire was applied using Google Forms, with
28 people with ASD or their guardians, containing questions regarding socio demographic data and auditory hypersensitivity, as well as its characteristics. The
study was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Health
Sciences Center of the Federal University of Paraíba. Results: Auditory
hypersensitivity was reported by 85.71% of participants, among whom 95.83% were
hypersensitive to loud sounds and 87.5% to weak sounds. In general, 96.43%
become agitated or disorganized when disturbed by sound, expressing irritability and
stress. However, 85.71% accept musical instruments and activities. Conclusion:
Auditory hypersensitivity is a recurring complaint among people with ASD and
causes negative reactions of agitation, disorganization, difficulty paying attention,
stress and irritability, which negatively impact their quality of life. Adults tend to use
more strategies to cope with this sensory-perceptual change.

Abstract: Introduction: Central Auditory Processing (CAP) involves the neural processing of
auditory stimuli and is related to various auditory skills, such as sound lateralization,
auditory discrimination, and recognition of sound patterns. This can result in difficulty
or delay in language development and school learning problems. Furthermore, CAP
may be associated with other comorbidities, such as phonological disorders, learning
disorders (dyslexia, dysorthographia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia), ADHD, and specific
language disorder. Method: This present study analyzed 46 medical records, with the
temporal scope of this documentary research spanning from 2016 to 2019. The
subjects were between 7 and 12 years old, selected through non-probabilistic
convenience sampling. Results: The group with CAP and without comorbidities
showed a higher number of altered tests, totaling 14. The group without CAP had the
lowest number of altered tests (4). The group with CAP and associated comorbidities
presented 12 altered tests. All groups showed more altered tests compared to the tests
with normal results. Conclusion: The most commonly found comorbidities in the were
ADHD and dyslexia, and the tests that showed the most errors were PSI and Temporal
Processing tests.

Sinais e sintomas otológicos na disfunção temporomandibular: revisão integrativa

Abstract: Introduction: Temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) affects many individuals
around the world and the diagnosis, although complex, due to the most different
signs and symptoms that covers a wide range of clinical joint and muscular problems
in the orofacial region. Among the signs and symptoms, the patient can presents
sensitivity to palpation of the masticatory muscles and the temporomandibular joint
(TMJ) itself, pain, headaches, hypermobility, restrictions and deviation in the
mandibular trajectory and joint noises. Objective: To discuss the prevalence of
otological signs and symptoms in temporomandibular disorders. Method: This is a
literature review carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Scielo databases,
using the keywords “otological signs”, “temporomandibular joint” and
“temporomandibular dysfunction”, covering articles published between 2018 and
2023, which reported clinical data on the relationship between TMD and otological
signs. 15 articles were included. Discussion: The articles analyzed did not specify a
characteristic otological symptom in TMD, addressing the symptoms in general,
which in many cases are related to oral habits. There was a discrepancy regarding
the prevalence of otological symptoms in TMD due to sex and age, although they
occur more frequently in women and younger individuals. The same occurs with
regard to the existence of hearing loss, a divergent issue in the articles. The degrees
of severity of TMD were also associated with a greater existence of otological and
audiological symptoms. Finals Considerations: The articles analyzed are quite
cohesive in relating the existence of otological symptoms to temporomandibular
dysfunction, although they do not corroborate the incidence of each symptom. The
otological symptoms related to temporomandibular disorder most found in the
literature are otalgia, hearing loss and ear fullness and tinnitus, the latter being the
most frequent symptom

Abstract: Problem: Digital health has been the fastest growing sector in recent years, reflecting in
all areas, including speech therapy. However, the speech language evaluation performed
by the speech therapist is done in a traditional way and not unified by means of long
protocols with graphic design that is not innovative, exhaustive, unattractive and static.
In order to solve this problem, Fonolingo was developed, a mobile app that serves as a
tool for unified speech and language assessment in the speech therapy clinic.
Approach: The app was developed by an interprofessional team consisting of teachers
and students of speech therapy, computer science and design courses, using the
methodological approach of Design Thinking respecting its steps of Inspiration,
Ideation, Prototyping, and Testing and sharing. Outcomes: The target audience of the
application are speech therapists and students, who will be able to perform language
assessment in a unified, interactive and attractive way for the user and the patient at the
levels: Behavioral, Pragmatic, Semantics, Phonology and Morphosyntax, or the choice
of language. general assessment where all levels are jointly addressed. Next Steps:
Fonolingo is in the prototyping stage. Following will be the testing and implementation
steps that will be scaled in the practical test in clinical situations so that after the test the
application can be available in online stores. The authors still plan to conduct further
qualitative study and the translation and cultural adaptation of this app for different
languages.
