      <description>Título: Avaliação da qualidade de vida em pacientes com fissuras labiopalatinas
Autor(es): Barros, Mariana Silva
Orientador: Soares, Maria Sueli Marques Soares
Abstract: BACKGROUND: Cleft lip and palate are the most common congenital malformation&#xD;
in the craniofacial region that compromise aesthetics, social communication cause&#xD;
psychological impact and may decreased self-esteem, emotional instability and&#xD;
difficults social life. To evaluate the quality of life of children, adolescents and young&#xD;
adults with cleft lip and palate using the Cleft- Q, relating data obtained with gender,&#xD;
age group and aiming to contribute for knowledge to professionals who working in&#xD;
treatment centers for this public. METHODS: This was an observational, retrospective&#xD;
and prospective cross- sectional study with 100 individuals of both genders aged&#xD;
between 8 and 29 years at the Cleft Lip and Palate Service of the Lauro Wanderley&#xD;
University Hospital of the Federal University of Paraiba (HULW / EBSERH / UFPB).&#xD;
RESULTS: The frequency by age group was: children (24%), adolescents (41%) and&#xD;
adults (35%). For sex, male (48%) and female (52%). For the cleft type: lip (13%), lip&#xD;
and palate (81%) and palate (6%). CONCLUSION: Male individuals, with cleft lip and&#xD;
palate, reported greater losses in quality of life than females, with a greater impact on&#xD;
the psychological aspect; problems related to appearance, facial function and quality of&#xD;
life were aggravated with the increase in the age of the individual with cleft lip and&#xD;
palate, the most relevant being those related to the appearance of the nostrils and teeth;&#xD;
The types of cleft lip and palate severely affected the facial function domain, with cleft&#xD;
lip being more related to eating and drinking and cleft palate to speaking.

      <title>Atividade antimicrobiana do cinamaldeido e α-terpineol frente biofilmes endodônticos</title>
      <link>https://repositorio.ufpb.br/jspui/handle/123456789/17338</link>
      <description>Título: Atividade antimicrobiana do cinamaldeido e α-terpineol frente biofilmes endodônticos
Autor(es): Rodrigues , Nadiny Cezar
Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the antimicrobial activity of cinnamaldehyde and α-terpineol against endodontic biofilms. Methods: Bovine Root canals were instrumented with K (#45 to 60) with filing and enlargement movements, under constant irrigation with distilled water, and smear leayer removal with 17% EDTA. Afterwards, they were sterilized by ethylene oxide and a biofilm cultivated in the channels. The cell concentration used for E. faecalis was 1x108 CFU / mL in BHI medium and the culture was performed for 14 consecutive days (37°C, microarephilia). On day 15 the biofilms were exposed to cinnamaldehyde (Cin) and α-terpineol (Terp) at 10 mg / mL for 16 min, at 37°C. BHI medium was added and the samples reincubated for 24h. BHI medium solutions were used as negative control; sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and chlorhexidine (CHX), at 2%, as a positive control. The biofilms were analyzed according to the cellular viability (CFU/mL) (n=9/group) and the total protein concentratio (n=8/group). The Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney tests were applied for cell viability and ANOVA and Tukey for the determination of total proteins (α=5%). Results: For the UFC/mL count, the CH showed the same CHX metabolism (p&gt;0.05), both differed from the negative control, Terp and NaOCl (p&lt;0.05). There was only difference in the production of total proteins between the negative control and Cin (p &lt;0.05). Conclusion: Cinnamaldehyde was the substance that presented antibacterial effect against endodontic biofilm comparable to chlorhexidine 2%.

      <title>A relação da disfunção temporomandibular com fatores sociodemográficos em estudantes de odontologia da UFPB</title>
      <link>https://repositorio.ufpb.br/jspui/handle/123456789/17337</link>
      <description>Título: A relação da disfunção temporomandibular com fatores sociodemográficos em estudantes de odontologia da UFPB
Autor(es): Silva, Thales Henrique Pereira da
Abstract: This study aimed at evaluating the relationship with temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) in undergraduate students of Dentistry at the Federal University of Paraíba, associated with socio-demographic factors such as income, schooling and marital status of parents and respondents, age, physical activity, interest in the profession and knowledge of other languages, according to the Fonseca's Anamnesis Index Questionnaire. The study was carried out transversally, with an inductive approach and descriptive and inferential statistical analysis with 112 collaborators, of which 37 were male (32.7%) and 75 were female (66.4%), aged between 18 and 35 years. It was possible to notice that 63,55% of the students who were affected with TMD had 22 years or more, most of them were dating somebody (44,57%) and 32,14% the rest are generated from a minimum. It is conclued that the multifactorial aspects of TMD are not influenced by the undergrate students in dentistry at UFPB.
