Through the historical experience left by the military dictatorship government and the first years of the country's democratic restoration for the inhabitants of the capital of Paraíba, the study aimed to address the theme of the production/maintenance of urban space within the context of capitalist accumulation and its socio-environmental consequences for the Brazilian working class, especially the most impoverished. Based on the observation that city walls narrate social, political, and symbolic disputes, it questions how these daily interventions can be mobilized to challenge consolidated historical narratives and foster critical citizenship formation. Adopting the term “urban inscriptions” to encompass various forms of records (pichações, graffiti, stencils and posters), it is understood that seeing them implies deciphering a geography of power inscribed in the territory. The central objective is, therefore, to contribute to a History teaching approach that values the analysis of lived space, recognizing inscriptions as sources for debates on citizenship and political participation. To achieve this, the work combines an interdisciplinary literature review — engaging with History, Linguistics, and Political Geography, drawing on authors such as Milton Santos, Patrick Charaudeau, and Iris Young — with the development of a concrete pedagogical proposal. This materializes in three learning mediations (lesson plans) designed for High School, utilizing photographs of urban inscriptions collected by the author as a didactic resource. Photography acts as a key tool, not only recording the ephemeral nature of these manifestations but also enabling the dismantling of the image, promoting critical analysis of context and intentionality. These proposals aim to stimulate a careful reading of the urban landscape, often seen but little interpreted, and to create a dialogical space where student subjectivities connect with relevant socio-political themes, thereby fostering civic practice. Thus, it aims to investigate the interaction between these discourses, the far-right behavior in contemporary society, and how it potentially articulates and reorganizes itself through ideological perspectives also evoked in the discourses of electronic war games. What interests here is not only the electronic games and their narratives themselves, but also the ways in which these cultural artifacts are apprehended, assimilated, and potentially mobilized by members of the gaming community. From this intersection, it is possible to question and investigate the circulation of xenophobic, racist, and misogynistic discourses, which also expand into chauvinistic positions, whose pro-military interventionism in the contemporary context of the War on Terror also gives them anti-Arab and Islamophobic overtones. The research analyzes how Dona Dida constructed her image as the “Mother of the Poor”, positioning herself as a defender of social causes and gaining access to spaces of power within a political environment historically dominated by men. Adopting an approach that integrates social, political, and cultural history, the study draws on a variety of sources, including official documents, photographs, interviews, newspapers, and memoirs. It engages with theoretical concepts such as symbolic power, political representation, invented traditions, and collective memory, drawing on scholars such as Pierre Bourdieu, Eric Hobsbawm, E.P. Thompson, and Roger Chartier. The city of Itabaiana is presented as a stage for political and social disputes, revealing tensions between tradition and modernity, as well as between male dominance and the growing participation of women in local politics. The dissertation also examines Dona Dida’s struggles throughout her career, including her electoral victories and defeats, as well as episodes of resistance that shaped her political path. By investigating the construction of her leadership and the strategies she employed to establish herself as a prominent figure, this research contributes to broader debates on gender, political culture, and political memory, bringing to light the story of a woman who broke barriers and redefined the role of women in Paraíba's political sphere.
