Meninas rosas e o desabrochar do amor: uma análise comparativa dos contos Os desastres de Sofia e Restos do carnaval, de Clarice Lispector

Abstract

This comparative work proposes to analyze the tales Os desastres de Sofia and Restos do carnaval, that are present, respectively, in the collections A legião estrageira, of 1964 and Felicidade Clandestina, of 1971. So that we can compare the vision of love present in the works, and observe if the theme is explored in a linear way or if it has singularities in each of the texts. These stories are considered autobiographical by the scholars' writers, as Ferreira (1995) and Roefero (2007) point out, at the same time as they have female narrators, who recall past episodes of childhood and talk about discoveries of themselves and of the world. In this sense, this work is justified, because there is no specific comparison of the two short stories chosen. In addition, in general, existing studies confine themselves to analyzing the vision of childhood in Clarice's short stories, dissociated from the relationships established in the works from the point of view of the adult narrators who tell the events of the past, allowing new meanings not understood at the time of their events, and which are relevant to the understanding of the texts. Inevitably, love is a theme that continues to intrigue and provoke discussions in the most different intellectual spheres, as well as is very much present in the works of the author cited. Thus, comparing how love is portrayed in these stories will contribute not only to broadening the discussion about the theme, but also to our perception of the Claricean work. For our analysis, we will mainly use the studies of Benedito Nunes (1976) and (1995) that situate the Claricean fiction within the existentialist tradition, allowing an amplification of the epiphanic effects in the stories.
