AUTO-REFLEXÃO SOBRE O DESENVOLVIMENTO DA COMPETÊNCIA TRADUTÓRIA A PARTIR DA TRADUÇÃO DE TEXTOS TÉCNICOS DE MATEMÁTICA DO FRANCÊS PARA O PORTUGUÊS DO BRASIL

Abstract

This paper aims at presenting a reflection, from the point of view of an apprentice translator, on the translation of technical texts from French into Portuguese. The translation of didactic texts on Mathematics written by Professor Yves Chevallard allowed a reflection about the project, the process and the product of translation, its peculiarities and the difficulties encountered by the apprentice translator. In this research, we observed the development of learning by practice, based on PACTE competence model (2003), and the specificity of translators training (ROBINSON, 1997). One can observe the translation decisions (BASSNETT, 2002), which consider the function of translation (NORD, 1997), and the communicative perspective of the text (MARCUSCHI, 2003). One can also observe how learning by practice develops from the reflection on the choices of the apprentice translator on technical texts, considering its terminological specificity (HOFFMANN, 1988 apud FINATTO and ZILIO, 2015), and also as part of a communicative act of a specific linguistic community, as well as the text as a whole (KRIEGER and FINATTO, 2005). This work collaborates with the Translation Studies by permitting a glance at the translated text under a different perspective – the acquisition of translation competence, based on the reflection about the process and the final product of the translation practices. As a result, one can observe the development of specific skills by the apprentice translator from theoretical-practical orientations in a translator training course.
