Through state feminism, dictators Bourguiba and Ben Ali, have for decades, promoted gender equality policies that have led Tunisia to be considered the most advanced Arab country in terms of women's rights. With the outbreak of the Arab Spring and specifically the Jasmine Revolution, Tunisian women took to the streets and played an important role in the deposition of Ben Ali, demonstrating their dissatisfaction with the regime. The present work aims to outline the conformation of the state feminism in parallel with the political participation of Tunisian women during the governments of Bourguiba and Ben Ali, as well as after the Revolution.pt_BR
