IMPORTÂNCIA DA PARTICIPAÇÃO SOCIAL NA CONSTRUÇÃO DA POLÍTICA DE SAÚDE: contribuição do Serviço Social para fortalecimento deste princípio

Abstract

The present course conclusion paper aims to analyze the importance of social participation in the construction of health policy and how the social worker can contribute to the strengthening of this principle. To this end, the methodology used for this work was based on the theoretical support of the historical-dialectical materialism method, as well as a bibliographic and documentary review on the subject. The current health model is the result of the political organization of social subjects. Faced with the terrible health conditions faced by the Brazilian population, the health reform movement will promote the articulation of various segments of society to claim for better living conditions. The 8th National Health Conference will be a milestone in this process, for being able for the first time to ensure community participation in the formulation of a health proposal from the perspective of law, making the State responsible for its promotion and guarantee. The social guarantees inserted in the Federal Constitution of 1988, are in line with the Neoliberal ideals that was installed in Brazil in the 1990s. Given the challenges faced by Brazilian public health at the current juncture, it is essential to reflect on the importance of building strategies to strengthen social participation in facing these dilemmas. This one that has suffered severe attacks by the current government, through the extinction and dismantling of the control instances. It is understood as urgent the engagement of social workers in the implementation of strategies that enable the protagonism of SUS users, making them aware of the importance of them, to know and occupy these spaces for the strengthening of health policy.
