Abstract

In extreme situations, the complexity of the human soul manifests itself in different ways. In the books the spanish making machine and Blindness, we have two narratives that bring a deep immersion in the knowledge of what it is to be for oneself and to be for the other. Our intention with the present study is to seek an understanding of what may come to symbolize white blindness in Saramago's work (1995), in order to compare and broaden the interpretations of the theme in the book the Spanish-making machine, the corpus of our study.
