ARTE E LOGOTERAPIA: A ESPIRITUALIDADE NA VIDA E OBRA DE VAN GOGH

Abstract

The aim of this article is to identify how Logotherapy - therapy based on the meaning of life - and Viktor Frankl's Existential Analysis can contribute to a point of view based on Vincent Van Gogh's spiritual person. The article consists of a bibliographic research carried out through an interpretation and an analysis, in the light of the Existential Analysis, of the book Letters to Theo. The work aims to: 1. Explore the definition of art, deepening the concept of the spiritual unconscious and clarifying the relevance of art as an essentially human activity; 2. Present the fundamentals of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, contemplating the Dimensional Ontology and the spiritual dimension; 3. Perform a brief contextualization of the painter's life and his illness, revealing the various diagnostic possibilities carried out to explain the pathology that affected him; 4. Clarify the influence of art, and its intrinsically spiritual character, in Van Gogh's life and work, demonstrating this spirituality through an interpretation of his correspondences. It can be concluded, therefore, the relevance of logotherapy in an attempt to offer a perspective of Vincent's figure focused on the human and healthy dimension of the individual, beyond the psychological and biological limitations.
