Depósito legal no SISTEMATOTECA da UFPB: mito ou realidade

Abstract

The Legal Deposit arises as legal counsel to the fulfillment of Universal Bibliographic Control device. Thus, university libraries have fundamental importance in this process given that from the legal deposit receives the publications of university presses. In this context, research on screen had as general objective: To determine the existence of legal deposit in the Central Library UFPB as the publications of the University Publishing UFPB, from the identification of the acquisition of publications University Publishing UFPB of the Central Library as well as checking the publications editor of UFPB existing in the Central Library collection and identifying in legal documents SISTEMOTECA UFPB the legal deposit obligation. For much of the research is descriptive, documentary type and exploratory taking as an instrument of data collection interview and documentary research that was applied to Librarians responsible for sections directly connected with the process of legal deposit. The survey results show that the Legal Deposit in SISTEMOTECA there, but devoid of regularity which indicates the need for urgent dialogue between stakeholders towards the establishment and structuring of effective legal deposit in institutional context. The research also suggests some actions that will enable the flow in the tank and dissemination of publications deposited.
