A RESISTÊNCIA DAS JOANAS E DAS FIRMINAS: UMA ANÁLISE DO CONTO A ESCRAVA, DE MARIA FIRMINA DOS REIS

Abstract

This paper is dedicated to the understanding and analysis of the work A Escrava by Maria Firmina dos Reis, black woman, teacher, intellectual of her time, antiracist and critical thinker against the position of the society of her time, which made this pos ition evident. The objective of this work was to analyze the text A Escrava (The slave), seeking to present and relate elements that deal with the relations of feminine resistance and its relation to AfroBrazilian literature. The methodology used is based on a qualitative, interpretative and analytical approach. Based on the conceptual and theoretical framework of Eduardo Duarte and Conceição Evaristo, among other researchers, to carry out the analysis of the work A Escrava de Maria Firmina dos Reis (2018 ,1887 ) . It was concluded that through the analysis of the work, it was possible to observe that both Maria Firmina, as well as her characters the Lady and Joana, all are the representation of women who were not submissive to the prohibitions of their time as to limitation of gender, color, social class among others, they made confrontations and mobilized their lives for the sake of something greater, considering their own stories, the pain of their people, their losses and the prohibitions to which they were subj ected, to advance politically, socially, intellectually and also contributing to a fairer world for all.
