ONGS e mediação da informação em comunidades periféricas: desdobramentos e relações no contexto da Ciência da Informação

Abstract

It investigates the social responsibility of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Casa do Pequeno Davi and Children's Villages, regarding reading / information mediation actions. It revisits the authors Silva (2006); Petit (2008); (Ramalho, 1996); Figueiredo (1996), among others. The problem question asks: How do the NGOs Casa Pequeno Davi and Aldeias SOS implement socio-educational actions to arouse the pleasure of reading in children and young people from the periphery? Its general objective is to analyze how the NGOs mentioned use reading in the resocialization of children and young people from the periphery. As specific objectives reveal concepts of reading, built by children and young people of perhiferia, focusing on what, why and what to read, as well as their reading stories. It uses the qualitative approach and ethnomethodological guidelines. Based on the subjects' topical life story. The results show us the omission of the public power in the adoption of social policies, a fact that opens spaces for NGOs to act in the most varied questions and initiatives of socio-educational development of the population, among them the access to reading / information, considered “a collective good, a good at all. ” Initiatives that emerge both for library creation and development and for reading stimulation. Notes that the reading experiences arising from the actions carried out by the researched NGOs, allow the recomposition of identities of children and young people, making them active agents of their lives and their histories.
