CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS E O DIREITO DE MORRER COM DIGNIDADE: análise da produção do Serviço Social sobre os Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos Oncológicos

Abstract

The present work aimed to analyze the production of the Social Service on Palliative Care, more precisely on these in the case of Pediatric Oncology. For this, a systematic literature review was used, which seeks to analyze the knowledge produced on the theme in question. The Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) was used as a database, the works published in the annals of the 15th and 16th Brazilian Congress of Social Workers (CBAS), the Textos & Contextos Magazine and the Revista de Políticas Públicas of UFMA, taking into account the time lapse from 2010 to 2020. It is noteworthy that out of a total of 42 articles retrieved, only 19 met the selection criteria of the research. In the results, the selected studies explain in a complete and cohesive way the themes of Social Work, Palliative Care, Pediatric Oncology, Pain and Death. It is necessary to emphasize the small production of knowledge and the scarce theoreticalcritical debate on the theme Social Work and Pediatric Cancer Palliative Care, highlighting the difficulty of working with this theme. From this perspective, it was possible to discuss social work in view of its relevance for the realization of social rights and, in this context, the guarantee of the "right to die" of people who have some disease that threatens the continuity of life.
