A NORMA (O)CULTA NOS LIVROS DIDÁTICOS, UM ESTUDO DE CASO

Abstract

The presente work of conclusion of the course aims to analyze the use of terminologies used in a textbook collection to refer to the “language” they intend to teach. Therefore, part of the investigations will be to verify the terminology referring to linguistic variation and the conception of language (Variation, variety, variant, standard norm and standard variety or standard language, cultured norm and standard norm, etc.) that is being used in the textbook collection is linked in language: reading, text production and language (2018), by Ormundo and Siniscalchi. Furthermore, it will also be analyzed whether the collection in fact contemplates the varieties of prestige in the activities, or just considers the language as the linguistic ideal of the standard norm. To guide our work, we used the theoretical contributions of: Bagno (2007;2013) and Faraco (2008). The Methodology follows the descriptive and qualitative approach. The results showed that, despite the collection trying to conceptually separate the standard norm from the cultured norm/prestige varieties, the collection not only considers the prescriptive model of the language as an integral part of the prestige varieties but also makes use of the standard norm in the activities of linguistic analysis.
