O Efeito da massagem terapêutica em pessoas idosas

Abstract

The present work is configured in a study about the importance of massage therapy in elderly people. The objectives that guided this work were: to reflect theoretically on the role of the applicability of therapeutic massage in elderly people;describe who the elderly are before the law, family and society; describe the biological and physiological challenges that arise in old age;and finally, to identify the benefits and points that massage can contribute to in a beneficial way in the daily lives of these elderly people.The methodology used consisted of a bibliographic research of the narrative type and was carried out from February to May 2021. As main results obtained, we list the unquestionable relevance of massage therapy in the lives of elderly people; the need to have a more human and understandable look; massage works not only physical aspects but also the mental health of the elderly, something extremely necessary for the life of any human being; the touch of massage in the elderly person provides and promotes welcoming, a feeling of care, protection and well-being; the little scientific production on the subject and the need to expand the debate about massage in the academic scope of Physical Education.
