Abstract

This work seeks to carry out na analysis of the work Casa-Grande & Senzala by Gilberto Freyre, where it was sought to understand from the analysis of contente and bibliography how the author argues, describes and interprets the issue of mestizo and miscegenations from the racial issue Brazilian. In addition, it was necessary to historically reconstruct the currents and lineages of thought that permeated the understanding of the racial issue from the mid-nineteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century. when the author will publish his work. From the results it was possible to see how Gilberto Freyre will positively analyse the Brazilian racial question, constituting miscigenation under some social and cultural characteristics, differentiating his study from the current perception on the racial question and from biological conception that hovered over the scientific context.
