Uso da laserterapia e terapia miofuncional em paciente com Disfunção Temporomandibular e Fibromialgia: um estudo de caso

Abstract

Objective: To describe the speech therapy intervention in a patient diagnosed with TMD and Fibromyalgia. Methods: For the evaluation, a data sheet was obtained, and the protocols Assessment of Myofunctional Orofacial Scores (AMIOFE), the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) and the Research Diagnosis for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC / TMD) after the therapeutic process. For the speech-language intervention, the laser therapy with 6 Joules, infrared, with Fluency of 51J / cm2, wavelength 830 nm, was carried out in association with conventional oromiofacial therapy. Results: With orofacial myofunctional therapy and laser therapy, it was possible to verify improvement in the structural and mobility aspects of the phonoarticulatory organs as well as the balance of functions and better stability of the temporomandibular joints, improvement in the quality of life of the patient, reduction of pain intensity, points of disability, reduction of the degree of conical pain. Conclusion: The minimization of the pain of TMD, reflected in the improvement of the quality of life of the same.
