Análise das perspectivas profissionais de estudantes de Ciências contábeis: um estudo em instituições de Ensino Superior na cidade de João Pessoa

Abstract

The choice of a profession that will follow is one of the most remarkable moments in the life of a youngster. It introduces him/her to a new manner of seeing the world and shows a new way that he/she will go through. When making this choice, the youngster, sometimes unprepared, changes his/her professional intentions during the graduation course. Because of this, he/she was forced to compare and to see if there was any occupational change of the youngsters who are taking Accountancy and to find out the reasons which motivated this change of option, as well as the reasons that made them choose this course which has a vast professional field. The research had a sample of 269 students in the 2013.2 period who were on the last year of the course of public IES at UFPB, and private IES, LUMEM colleges, UNIPÊ and IESP, all of them situated in João Pessoa. The methodology was the descriptive one, applying a questionnaire to these students for data collection and it was used a content analysis technique making possible the interpretation of answers presented. The study showed that most of the youngsters took the Accountancy course because they were interested in entering a public competition after graduating, because they were familiar with the field and the diversity in the branch of professional acting offered. It was tried to compare the difference in thought of the students of public and private IES, such as the reasons for taking the course, the expectations of students who are starting and finishing graduation and the total of students with practical experience in Accountancy. It was found that the students of these IES are not always unanimous in their reasons, situations and thoughts, but all of them have good expectations for when they graduate.
