Mulheres jornalistas na Paraíba.

Abstract

This text presents an approach to the challenges and the little job opportunities that professional journalists face throughout their careers in Brazil, highlighting specificities about the reality of the state of Paraíba. There is a great relevance in discussing this theme, mainly because it is perceived that there are many factors that oppress women on a daily basis, whether from their appearance to their own behavior that is judged since childhood and this pressure only extends to professional life. It is understandable that for a long time the female image has been conveyed to tastes, behaviors and an aesthetic standard that does not portray the diversity of the real woman, including in the media, influencing the collective imagination, limiting her to a few spaces and some subjects, discriminating against them, as in sports journalism. In this way, it problematizes this social reality, which women journalists have been facing throughout history. Thus, the general objective of this Course Completion Work (TCC) is to document the stories of women who have lived and live in practice the pressure of machismo on their professional lives.
