Para Quem Serve o Curso de Filosofia? A Violência Epistêmica Que Molda o Currículo de Filosofia

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the current state and recent history of the philosophy course at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), with a focus on the undergraduate degree, questioning what profile of graduate the course produces. The aim is to consider whether current training is coherent with the objectives set, whether it considers the teaching of philosophy as a basic training subject and, above all, whether it responds to the desires and interests of those who seek to delve deeper into philosophical research from different perspectives. To this end, the work's theoretical reference is mainly Sueli Carneiro's The construction of the other as non-being as the foundation of being. The work's methodology is historiographical research, which preserves the memory of the course and highlights information relevant to its construction and maintenance, as well as bibliographical research, which critically analyzes the historiography surveyed. Given the due limited scope of a graduate level dissertation, the research points out critical paths, with a view to presenting considerations and conditions to be rethought in the process of revising the philosophy course’s curriculum.
