CINEMA CONTEMPORÂNEO: A SÉTIMA ARTE COMO INSTRUMENTO DE PROMOÇÃO DA INTERCULTURALIDADE

Abstract

This article analyzes how we can see interculturality being expressed through film productions. To do this, based on a qualitative bibliographic research approach, we provide a brief contextualization of globalization, drawing on Giddens literature (2006), as well as the history of cinema, with the contribution of Mascarello (2006), and the understanding of interculturality sustained by the author Canclini (2009). We also review three films that address an intercultural theme, as they reproduce both hostilities and social contributions resulting from contact between different cultures. We arrive at the understanding of cinema as an art capable of operating in the intermediate spaces of society, enabling connections between different groups, as well as reflections on both the culture of others and our own reality
