Punk rock no Reino Unido : os reflexos do governo Margaret Thatcher nas dinâmicas e manifestações do punk e suas vertentes

Abstract

At the end of the 20th century, major social and cultural transformations took place in Europe, impacting not only artistic production but also the way in which such productions were consumed. In England in the late 1970s, Punk Rock emerged as a cultural movement that would transform a generation dissatisfied with the British political scene and fiercely criticize the figure of Margaret Thatcher, British Prime Minister and the main antagonist of the working class during the period. The objective of this work is to provide an analysis of the sociocultural and economic aspects of Margaret Thatcher's government, seeking to identify how her neoliberal policies helped to create a climate of revolt and discontent that influenced the Punk movement and its subgenres.
