Internacionalização da educação superior e mobilidade: percepções de estudantes de ciências contábeis do Campus IV/UFPB

Abstract

This study seeks to understand the interest of students in the Accounting program at Campus IV of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) in international experiences, their perception of financial feasibility, the incentives provided by the program, and their knowledge of the UFPB Agency for International Cooperation (ACI/UFPB), and thus identify the advances, limitations, and opportunities related to the program’s international integration during the period under investigation. The objective is to analyze the perceptions of students in the Accounting program at UFPB’s Campus IV regarding the internationalization of higher education and academic mobility. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, conducted through the administration of a questionnaire to students regularly enrolled in the 2025.2 semester of the program. The results show that, even though students recognize the importance of internationalization for their academic and professional development, there are still limitations regarding their understanding of the concept. Furthermore, it was found that interest in experiences abroad is directly associated with the availability of financial support. In addition, weaknesses were identified in the dissemination of opportunities, in knowledge of institutional actions, and in the coordination of initiatives aimed at internationalization within the course. Barriers such as limited foreign language proficiency and the perception of insufficient institutional incentives also stand out. It is concluded that the proposed objective was achieved by enabling the identification of potentialities and limitations in the internationalization process within the investigated context. The study is relevant in that it offers information that can contribute to the improvement of institutional policies, fostering the development of strategies that are more inclusive, effective, and aligned with students’ needs.
