Abstract: Purpose: To verify whether there is an association between anxiety, depression and mandibular functionality in patients with Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD). Method: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study. The research was approved by the Health Ethics Committee, under opinion number 6,136,949. Thirty-four individuals participated in this study, divided into two groups, 17 with a diagnosis of TMD (TMDG) and 17 healthy controls (CG). The questionnaire chosen was the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD), which is divided into axis I, which addresses the diagnosis of TMD, and axis II, which includes psychosocial aspects. The outcomes studied were: mandibular functionality, anxiety, depression, somatization and parafunction. Results: Patients diagnosed with TMD (TMDG) had worse scores for symptoms of anxiety, depression, somatization, greater functional limitation of the jaw and presence of oral habits compared to individuals without TMD. In addition, the control group showed an association between oral habits and symptoms of anxiety. Conclusion: There is no association between depression, anxiety and jaw functionality in women with TMD.
