The present work aims to trace a line from the Reformation, through the influence of Calvinism and Protestantism in the Netherlands, to arrive here, “where the sun rises first.” The focus is to present the roots of the establishment of the Protestant faith in Dutch Paraíba, citing highly significant figures such as Pedro Poti, several missionaries, and the work of the Dutch West India Company. I dedicate myself not only to presenting what occurred between 1630 and 1654, but also to reflecting on the motivations and purpose of this different form of catechization. The first steps of Protestantism among the Indigenous peoples of Frederica were shaped by a long history that began years earlier, driven by interests and intentions.pt_BR
