Title: Barreiras e fatores motivacionais para a prática de musculação: estudo de caso em uma academia de João Pessoa

metadata.dc.description.resumo: O objetivo do presente estudo foi identificar as barreiras e fatores motivacionais para a prática de musculação em uma academia de ginástica. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo de caso, de natureza descritiva e abordagem quantitativa. A amostra foi constituída por 35 participantes, de ambos os sexos com idade entre 18 a 58 anos (34,0±10,1anos), devidamente matriculados em uma academia de ginástica localizada na cidade de João Pessoa. As variáveis investigadas foram os fatores motivacionais para a prática de musculação. O instrumento de coleta dos dados foi um questionário adaptado de Martins e Petroski (2000) constituído de 19 questões relativas as barreiras e motivações para à prática de atividade física. A análise dos dados foi realizada através de distribuição de frequências. Resultados: Os fatores motivacionais e barreiras mais observadas em ambos os sexos foram: 28,6% a jornada de trabalho, 17,1% os compromissos familiares, 17,1% as limitações físicas, 11,4% a falta de companhia e 11,4% a falta de energia. Os fatores menos expressivos destacados foram: 97,1% a falta de equipamentos, 97,1% a falta de incentivo da família e amigos, 94,3% a falta de recursos financeiros, 94,3% ambiente inseguro, 94,3% a falta de habilidade na prática do exercício físico e 94,3% a aparência. De acordo com o sexo, as barreiras e motivações mais elevadas foram: a jornada de trabalho de 31,8% no masculino e 23,1% feminino, respectivamente; e a falta de companhia (18,2%) e limitações física (18,2%) no masculino; e, no sexo feminino os compromissos familiares (23,1%) e o ambiente inseguro (15,4%). Conclusão: Os participantes da pesquisa demonstraram diversidade na percepção sobre as diversas barreiras e facetas motivacionais relacionadas a adesão e aderência na prática de musculação. Os fatores motivacionais apresentaram diferentes graduações demonstrando serem mais relevantes em alguns aspectos em relação a outros e conforme o sexo.
Abstract: The objective of the present study was to identify barriers and motivational factors for the practice of bodybuilding in a gym. Methodology: This is a case study, descriptive in nature and quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 35 participants, both genders aged 18 to 58 years (34.0 ± 10.1 years), duly enrolled in a gym located in the city of João Pessoa. The variables investigated were the motivational factors for the practice of bodybuilding. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire adapted from Martins and Petroski (2000) consisting of 19 questions regarding the barriers and motivations for the practice of physical activity. Data analysis was performed through frequency distribution. Results: The motivational factors and barriers most observed in both sexes were: 28.6% working day, 17.1% family commitments, 17.1% physical limitations, 11.4% lack of company and 11 , 4% lack of energy. The most significant factors were: 97.1% lack of equipment, 97.1% lack of encouragement from family and friends, 94.3% lack of financial resources, 94.3% insecure environment, 94.3% lack of ability to practice physical exercise and 94.3% of appearance. According to gender, the highest barriers and motivations were: the working day of 31.8% for men and 23.1% for women, respectively; and lack of company (18.2%) and physical limitations (18.2%) in men; and in the female sex the family commitments (23.1%) and the insecure environment (15.4%). Conclusion: Participants of the research demonstrated diversity in the perception about the various barriers and motivational aspects related to adherence and adherence in bodybuilding practice.
