A PROBLEMÁTICA DO DIREITO À LIBERDADE DE SER, EM CORES, NO ÂMBITO ACADÊMICO: análise das relações sociais na residência universitária masculina e feminina - RUMF/UFPB

Abstract

This paper arises from the concern about to understand the situation social of the LGBT population, represented by Lesbians, Gays, and Bisexuals during their living in male and female College dorms at UFPB. The purpose of the research is to understand if this community, understood as a minority, experience obstacles to be who they are. As a specific goal, analyze the situation of resident population related to social recognization of the LGBT population; Identify how to people handle inside College dorm - RUMF/UFPB about gender and sexual diversity, limits, and possibilities; analyze the way of resident college students see the relation between differences and inequalities. Having the understanding that the LGBT population suffers, historically and socially, social discrimination having their rights not recognized and disrespected, besides the difficulties to survive in a society marked by violence, which does not respects the pluralism of ideas, expressions, sexual orientation and gender, in addition to numerous other problems that are structural of the social order and of the capitalist system of production. The goal of this research is to analyze the relationships established in the College Dorms - RUMF/ UFPB, verifying the guarantee of the right to respect and freedom of expression, and to reflect on the limits experienced by this population in the academic life. Therefore, there is also a need to understand whether those limits, existing, are experienced by LGBT population in other spaces of the university, besides trying to verify whether they are caused by students, teachers or both and/or other professionals of the Federal University of Paraiba - UFPB. It is a social research of an exploratory nature qualitative-quantitative perspective. The methodology involves bibliographical research and the application of a questionnaire that aims to analyze how social relations is developed in the space of the College dorms - RUMF/UFPB, making the cut for the perception of the freedom of expression of the LGBT people. The result of this research will provide new studies, as well as serve as a work object for social work of the UFPB, represented by the PRAPE-COAPE team. For the production of the data the research responses were analyzed and consolidated through a spreadsheet. The final result of this study concludes that the LGBT population from RUMF experiences the expressions of LGBTophobia but that these are more intense in the other areas of the UFPB.
