Percepção dos discentes acerca do bullying escolar

Abstract

The present study aimed to know students' perceptions about school bullying. Twenty-one students participated in the study, nine of elementary school and twelve of high school in a private school in the city of João Pessoa (PB). The mean age was 15 years (SD = 2.65 and amplitude 11 to 17 years). A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Free Word Association technique were used to collect data. The Bardin Analysis was used, where categories were computed and frequency calculated. The result indicated that the participants perceive bullying as a phenomenon involving aggressive and repetitive behavior, with the aggressor as a manipulative person, who may have the media as a source of motivation for the practice of bullying. In addition, they emphasize that the victim are generally fat people, thin and who do not demonstrate abilities in jokes and that, can present as consequences of the suffering, the suicide, depression or become aggressors. It is concluded that there should be more campaigns to combat bullying in the media, as well as having permanent actions in schools that aim to prevent such phenomenon in the educational community.
