Histórias de desafios e superação na educação de adolescentes com paralisia cerebral: um estudo de caso

Abstract

The present research aims to reflect stories of challenges and overcoming teenager with cerebral palsy, as well as the stories of mothers of these teenager around lifelong resilience. The subjects of the study, two teenagerare with cerebral palsy (CP) between 13 and 14 years old and their respective mothers, all residents of the city of João Pessoa in the state of Paraíba. The study consists of exploratory research, in which we immerse ourselves in the historicity of the Special Education and the legal landmarks in Brazil.Characterized as a case study, we used the methodology of Oral History, highlighting and giving visibility to the speeches of mothers and children with CP. Open interviews were carried out as a fundamental research instrument, recorded and later transcribed, for the data analysis. With the transcriptions, we discussed the narratives of the mothers and one of the children, which enabled us to understand the processes of their school and life trajectory in a unique way. We know the history of children from birth through diagnosis, the identification of challenges, the significant milestones and the contributions of children's school trajectory, as well as the overcoming and resilience experienced by families.
