Abstract

Engineering strucure are of fundamental importance to crossing over the natural or artificial obstacles. They must be executed ensuring safety and durability during their lifetime. The natural performance loss of the structure should be monitored by the responsible agencies from the beginning of its use to identify the need for maintenance. There are difficulties in accessing all elements, and it is necessary to use alternatives that allow the professional to be close enough to detect anomalies. As a way to assist in the structure maintenance process, registration is essential for the designing engineers of the rehabilitation designings in the structure to have access to the conditions of the original designing. Thus, the present work had as objective the identification and georeferencing of engineering structure with the use of a Geographic Information Systems software, ArcGis. The geodetic coordinate system used was the Universal Transverse Mercator, Zone 25, which is part of the SIRGAS 2000 datum, a reference adopted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) for the elaboration of maps. This study was conducted in the city of João Pessoa - PB and BR-230 stretch between Km 12 and Km 28,1. The data was then exported to Google Earth so that the ArcGis attribute table is displayed when the user clicks on the engineering structure markup. Ten footbridges were registered, the data of which were most easily obtained by nine of them being located on federal highways and being part of the Engineering Structure Management System (SGO) of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT). The mixed structure of concrete and steel is the most adopted today, due to the greater practicality in its construction process. Twenty-six viaducts were registered and detailed information was presented for those located on the main roads of the city regarding the foundation, geometry (dimensions) and structural typology. Thirty-four bridges were registered, with greater data scarcity, many of them old works and maintained by the João Pessoa Town Hall. For foundations, the most common was to use the direct foundation or caisson, but recently the pile has become more popular, mainly due to the advancement in its executive processes. João Pessoa follows the tendency of Brazil to prioritize the execution of the work over the inspection, according to ABNT NBR 9452:2016, maintenance and monitoring, due to the lack of registration by all bodies responsible for engineering structure. It is hoped that the registration performed in this study will be used to further study other characteristics of the engineering structure, aiming at assisting inspections for monitoring and maintenance.
