Estudo bibliográfico sobre a prática do fisioterapeuta em cuidados paliativos.

Abstract

The present article has as its theme the Practice of the Physical Therapist in Palliative Care, knowing that these care practices are performed by professionals in the area in order to control the pain and physical symptoms of patients whose curative treatments no longer respond to the advancement of acquired disease. Thus, the aim of this study is to promote the relevance of professional care in these terminal patients, not only those with cancer, but also those with diseases such as syndromes, paralysis and other neurological diseases, but which, however, do not have a healing perspective. The role of the physiotherapist at this juncture comes to add to the other treatments offered to these patients, where they seek a functional rehabilitation bringing a better quality of life, as well as the decrease in pain and suffering that are usually afflicted to these people. The work sought support from reflections conducted in the Sector of Studies and Research in Health and Social Work – (SEPSASS), linked to the Federal University of Paraíba –(UFPB), where during the meetings were studied and debated the possible ways to apply physical therapy to these patients in order to add to the others already introduced, as well as working with this category the best application of physical therapy methods in these patients in order to bring positive results. The methodology was elaborated from a bibliographical research, publications and books related to the theme.
