Centro de Referência da Mulher Fátima Nóbrega: breve perfil das mulheres atendidas

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to introduce the Women's Reference Center named Fátima Lopes which is located in Campina Grande, PB. It is a specific public body responsible for the confronting and preventing violence against women program. We specifically intend to show the assistance offered by the CERMFL ( State Center for Women's Reference Fatima Lopes ) identifying those women who take part in the program and their profile, developing a database for that and verifying how the information could contribute to the confronting violence against women. The research is descriptive and quantitative and it is based on documental sources,especially the registration form from the women attended by the CERMFL in 2015. In order to analyse data the descriptive statistics were rejected. According to the provided statistical information is possible to affirm thatviolence against women is a serious social problem. Organising, developing and disseminating official statistical information are indispensable factors for strengthening public policies. They are focused on prevention, punishment and the eradication of this massive problem. In addition, those factors daily affect millions of women's lives and their rights. The research emphasizes the importance of being a librarian and having an informational and non-traditional environment, such as the CERMFL, as a committed socialagent reducing the social inequality.
