A REPRESENTAÇÃO DA MULHER INDÍGENA NA LITERATURA BRASILEIRA: LEITURA COMPARADA ENTRE A ESCRITA POÉTICA E AUTORAL DE MULHERES INDÍGENAS E AUTORES NÃO- INDÍGENAS

Abstract

The representation of indigenous people in brazilian literature was a recurring theme mainly in the first phase of romanticism, the indianism. At this stage, in the search for a hero on which to base literature for the purpose of developing an identity and a national symbol, the indigenous began to be described through innumerable stereotypes, and, as a consequence of this movement and the continuous subjugation of the female gender, the indigenous woman was doubly raped, as an indigenous and as a woman. This type of domination is also revealed in the arts, especially in writing, when women are excessively objectified and intellectually inferior, what happens continuously with the description of the indigenous woman in many works of non-indigenous writing. Based on these issues, the present work aims, through a bibliographic review, to address the importance of authorship by indigenous peoples, more specifically indigenous women, in Brazilian literature, making a comparative study between this and the poetic description of these characters as it is historically brought by non-indigenous writers, this with the support of theorists such as Bosi (2006), Cândido (2004), Todorov (1999), Lasmar (1999), Dorrico (2018), among others.
