PRESÍDIOS NO BRASIL: AS PECULIARIDADES DAS MULHERES EM SITUAÇÃO DE CÁRCERE, PRINCIPALMENTE AS MULHERES GESTANTES E PUÉRPERAS

Abstract

The present academic work has the general objective of reflecting on the reality of prisons in Brazil, considering the peculiarities of women in prison situations, especially pregnant women and women who have recently given birth. The justification is given to the need to discover the main social vulnerabilities that exist in prisons in general and, particularly, in women, and, in the middle of such vulnerabilities, we highlight the complex and contradictory multiplicity of aspects of human rights violations in this field of brazilian prisons, therefore, for all this, we see the relevance of this theme. As a methodology, it is a bibliographic and documentary research, with an exploratory approach and a qualitative type of analysis. As a result, there is a picture of intrinsic vulnerabilities in the general condition of brazilian prisons, but there are aggravating conditions for women in prison, which are deepened by the specificities linked to motherhood and the birth of their children in the prison environment. It is revealed that the majority of these women are of childbearing age and under permanent possibility of becoming pregnant, and in this prison space the arrival of a child appears amidst a level of chronic and accentuated psychological stress and in precarious physical structures. And the activities and guidelines passed on by professionals as social workers are fundamental in the prison world, and, especially, if such activities and guidelines are aimed at contributing to access to human and social rights.
