GÊNERO NEUTRO: UM MOVIMENTO PARA MUDANÇA DA LÍNGUA

Abstract

The present work has as general objective to investigate and analyze some proposals of neutral gender in Brazilian Portuguese presented by Pri Bertucci, Ophelia Cassiano, Almeida (2020), Carvalho (2020) and Schwindt (2020). For this, through a bibliographical research, we will start from different conceptions of gender, from its etymology. We will also discuss the causes of the fall of the neutral gender in the Latin language, pointing out possible developments in Brazilian Portuguese. For our research, we deem it necessary to use the grammatical gender perspective exposed by Rocha (1998) and Schmidt (2020), and the notion of social gender presented by Klages (2010). In this paper, we will analyze the gender-neutral suggestions in our language that are associated with social issues. We believe that the current discussion of gender neutrality is not only linguistic but also social. In general, we intend to expose the perspective of the mutable language, which, in this case, may be in line with social changes. However, we will not delve into the social issues involved. Given this, we will observe the morphophonological realization of the neutral gender proposals presented in this work and the possible difficulties in adapting these forms to Brazilian Portuguese.
