"Gelatecas" do município de Conde-PB: incentivo à leitura através de uma ação sustentável

Abstract

Social projects that involve reading and culture in communities that are difficult to access to public libraries maintain increase along with population growth, and there is a need to create new community libraries to meet this demand, as the emergence of public libraries is still precarious when it comes to urban mobility. The county of Conde-PB for being a constituted the majority, mostly rural regions created the opportunity to work on the importance of culture and encouraging reading in the community. The ―Gelateca‖ project represents a social action directed at children and adolescents, residents in places that are difficult to access to the municipal Public Library, intending to give the user the opportunity to extend the reach of everyone to good and free literature, encouraging discipline in the area the habit of reading, the commitment to remove and return the book from the collection and of course, the intellectual knowledge that the person who reads develops. The research about ―Gelateca‖ project, allows us to make sure that there is care for everyone in the region, who are the project's actors, what is the community's reception and what are the consequences after the construction of the equipment. To conduct this study it was necessary to meet the general objective, which is to analyze the execution of the ―Gelateca‖ project in the municipality of Conde and its impacts on local communities, based on its specific objectives: a) to analyze the documents of the ―Gelateca‖ project ; b) map the places where the equipment was installed; c) characterize the communities and users of ―Gelatecas‖; d) evaluate the relevance of the project to the communities; e) identify and discriminate the librarian's participation in the ―Gelateca‖ project. The project was developed from an exploratory and descriptive field study, in the environment where the ―Gelatecas‖ are installed, through the registration of photographs, mapping of the communities and reports of those responsible for visits made in the localities. The research approach was qualitative, based on document analysis and observation of the strategic points implemented in the municipality of Conde, making a comparison of the original project and its current reality. In order to encourage and increase the habit of reading the condenses citizens, especially the children, the ―Gelateca‖ project distributed eight fixed points throughout the municipality of Conde-PB in one year of work. In total were met, quilombola communities, indigenous communities, tourist sites, private companies and especially the Health Units, shared in urban and rural areas, were met, achieving all discriminated objectives.
