Justiça de transição: um ensaio sobre o direito à memória camponesa no Brasil

Abstract

The Brazilian agrarian question had its beginning in the period of Portuguese invasion and only from the middle of the 20th century onwards, the situation of people in the countryside gained notoriety for people who lived in the city. The serious violations of human rights committed by the military government or by it, and the importance of the peasant movement are facts that guide the reason for this research. Transitional justice in Brazil plays an important role in the field by collecting the peasants targeted by political persecution as well as compensating for the suffering caused, however, why is there a lack of effectiveness of the legislative instruments related to this issue? In view of this, the objective is to show how forgotten and/or never highlighted subjects need publicity about what they suffered and their achievements. Through the creation of a space such as the Memorial das Ligas Camponesas, responsible for promoting the preservation of memory, teaching and publicity about the facts and violated people, as well as the emergence and guarantee of the sense of belonging of rural people to this social class. Thus, the work will be produced through the compilation of thoughts of several authors in a qualitative way, the theme will be explored and exemplified through a bibliographical research of books, academic works, and electronic media. Several documents issued by the federal government will also be pointed out, with the objective of reinforcing the arguments developed throughout the dissertation. Assessing through this that the transitional justice contributed to the preservation of peasant memory with the end of the military period and that through the existence of spaces for the preservation of peasant memory, the past is not forgotten and can happen again. For this, these places need, in addition to the cost support provided by the government, to become teaching tools for society and to maintain the sense of belonging of people who directly or indirectly participated and continue to be active in the agrarian struggle.
